2014 Entune problems

Update - has not rebooted > 30 days

Just thought I'd give an update. I did NOTHING. I did not change a thing and have used the GPS/stereo as before. No rebooting for over a month. Don't know why or how the rebooting could have fixed itself. I fully expect the glitch to return at some point but so far all is good.

My experience had been that Entune paired erratically with my iPhone. I could successfully pair the two, but then later Entune could not see my phone or mp3 player, even though it had my phone listed.
It seems that my Entune system has a 20 character limit for the iPhone device name, and my iPhone had a 21 character name. Entune would pair with the 21 character name, but wouldn't reliably re-pair.

I just started having this issue over the weekend. My wife was driving the truck last Thursday and all of the buttons on the radio stopped working. I happened to have my 10,000 mile service scheduled for Friday morning so I figured I would address it if I had the same issue while driving it to the dealership, it figures no issues. Then we went on a road trip over the weekend and driving home Sunday, no phones connected to the radio or using nav, the radio just started rebooting probably 5 times. I bought the 4Runner in Jan 2014 so it is just over a year old and this is the first time I have had any issues. I need to check to see if the update was done during the 5,000 mile or 10,000 mile service.

Yep started having issues with mine, it's a known issue as far as what the service writer told me but there is no fix as of yet. When mine locks up I just push and hold the power button until it reboots then it's fine again. Toyota isn't well known for having great stereo systems as I had issues with my FJ also, oh well doesn't bother me that much.

No reboot issues, but my memory slots 5-12 reset sometime last night, but slots 1-4 stood fine. Changed memory slots to 12 instead of 36, as others have stated. Hoping not to have this happen again.

Part fix

I took my 14' in with the same issues others have been complaining about. My entune is been shutting off in the middle of use and sometimes during phone calls. I had all the soft software updates and nothing seemed to fix the problem. Apparently there are quite a few other 4runners that are having the same issue. The dealer ordered a new Extension Box SVC PT29647120AA. This part is apparently the issue. Hope you all have warranties as the part is over $1k. I would expect a service bulletin real soon.

Well that's good to know. I'm going bring it up again when I go in for my next service unless it gets worse between now and then.

Good to know on this part. I too am having problems with Entune on my 14 T4R. I've made all recommendations and changes noted on the various threads. Have had the dealer make all system upgrades. Issue is it drops my IPhone and then have to delete everything from the Entune unit and my IPhone and reconnect. I called the useless customer service line and got a rude idiot who told me it was my IPhone......even after I explained three times have a 15 Camry XSE and phone works fine synced to this unit. Next time it drops, I am going back to dealer with this information as well as call Toyota idiot again....Just to keep case record open. Other then this, no issues with my ride.

My '15 TRDP has issues with the phone and audio through Entune.

Phone/dial - stuck on screen saying dialing a contact off my phone. Power cycle still doesnt resolve this.

Audio - even though phone is paired, Pandora app through Entune says tethering issues.

I've deleted my phone profile off my car and re-added didnt help. Audio through bluetooth using Pandora on my phone works fine.

I went to software update and the following information is provided:

Happy to see this thread. Having issues with my Entune also. It will just randomly reboot...loves to happen when I'm on a call...
FYI I have a 2015 SR5P just purchased in Jan

I've had my 2015 Trail Premium 2 days, and I haven't had an issue yet...

...emphasis on 2 days though.

I am really hoping these issues don't occur on all the units. So far, my wife's phone and mine are setup (mine is primary), and we don't use the entune app. I have been curious about getting that setup, but every time I try to use it the HU says it requires a mandatory update - which immediately fails.

Everything else is working fine for now - navigation, BT audio, iPhone to USB audio, BT phone calls, BT messaging, and even the XM/FM/AM is working...

...for now.

its because the update is to entune and since you don't have entune installed on your phone it cant push the update from your phone to the headunit.

all updates to entune on the headunit are done via cellphone to negate the dealer doing the update.

I do have entune on my phone. When it prompts for the update, I get the status bar for about 20-30 seconds. It doesn't progress. Then it says something to the effect of "update failed".

Have you created an Entune account? I think I remember mine doing something similar when I just had the app but no account setup

yeah said above, you have to have a entune account. goto Toyota website and make an account if you don't have one.

if you do have one, then I am at a loss on why it wont update. mine did just fine.

So I've had mine for 6 months or so and just yesterday it rebooted. Then this morning it rebooted again.... Arghhh......:ybrick:

Both of our 2014 LEs randomly reboot. Each time they do all of the navigation (not stereo) settings are restored to default. I've tried to update both using entune app on iPhone (yes I have an account) both over Bluetooth and usb (separately) and with the phone connected wifi and cellular. I don't even get prompted that there is an update available. The mag gray 4Runner was one of the first off the assembly line. The white one is a later 2014 and has already had the head unit replaced once. Frustrating, but not the end of the world...
Edit: Each oil change I ask about an entune update and have been told there are none.

My 2014 4runner SR5 premium began rebooting Friday 4/3. Deleted a bunch of texts as I saw mentioned in previous comments, and hasn't rebooted since. I had an appt for this past Monday to let the dealer check it out but cancelled after seeing no other issues all weekend. Hope this helps.

Reboot

I was having the same problem, and was able to get it fixed by a firmware update done by the dealer. It took about an hour, and the problem hasn't repeated at all. It also fixed an occasional issue of the rear camera display showing up, but then not displaying the input from the camera. It should be noted that it was doing the rear camera display thing at 40+ in drive!

i'm having an issue with entune when it pairs up to my iphone. When it first pair up, it would call my own number however when I check my iphone it isn't calling. I tried to end the call however that doesn't work. I had to turn of my bluetooth.

its updated to the latest version. I have tried deleting and adding it back on with the same issue.

any suggestion?
