Not sure what happened to my text part....

Been a bad weekend. Picked up new Trail Edition on Thursday. After less than 100 miles, had a car cross into my lane after being hit by another car and there was no way to avoid her...all happened in a few seconds. All of the airbags went off and I feel we were very lucky to walk away with bruises and soreness.

Now I am concerned about what happens from here. Person responsible for the accident admitted fault to the officer. I am not sure what they will do with my vehicle...I want opinions on if this it totaled.

Totaled.

With all the airbags popped and the extent of compression in the engine box…I would guess it will be totaled. Glad to here you (and your family) are not hurt.

Glad to see you are ok. Your 4R did it's job just fine.

Because your truck is new, it's still worth a ton. Hard to say how much damage there is (frame wise). If no frame damage, I'd say the insurance will pay to have it repaired.

Glad you are ok. No real experience here but from what I have heard when the air bags go off after an accident like that the car is generally totaled. May be different on a new high value vehicle though.

It will be interesting...I am hoping for a totaled answer. This was my first 4R and agree it did its job to protect us. I am a paramedic and have seen people much worse after less damage.

As ironic as it is I was joining this forum this weekend to get some mod ideas...but I guess that will have to wait. I was very impressed by the truck both before and after the accident.

defiantly totaled, glad everyone is alright

and someone with less then 150miles that is a nightmare for me :wow:

glad you're alright. If it were me, totaled all the way. I would NOT want a vehicle with less than 100 miles on it to be restored like that. That is a no-no. New vehicle replacement 100%. People are so unbelievably out of check. How does something like that happen? I mean... where is the attention being paid to cause an accident of that caliber?

Thanks everyone...my first reaction was totaled. After a couple of days of hydrocodone and flexeril, and reading some on the Internet, I started second guessing that. I will definitely let everyone know the outcome. I just saw on this forum the TRD version is coming...maybe I will have to look at that one....

Hate to say it, probably totaled. When I had my accident in February the body shop told me that if all the airbags went off it would be totaled as the cost to replace them all far exceeds the body damage. Glad your ok, sorry to hear of your new ride though.

start complaining about your neck being stiff and get a TEP.... or milk it and get a Landcruiser! Everyone else does.... why not you

Glad you're ok, that is scary, scary stuff.

I work in public safety too- and I'm with you, collisions can be super nasty and the only important thing is your safety and your family.

Did you purchase GAP insurance, or did you put down a big down payment? So I guess now you have to wait and see what the insurance company does? Ideally if they total it they cut you a check, but since it's brand new it doesn't seem like it would cover the depreciation, etc. I ended up getting GAP just because of the Murphy's Law factor. Good luck brother.

Didn't get GAP insurance and paid TTL down. I am not sure what to expect but have an attorney on standby. KBB on a used 2014 is about what I paid so hoping that helps...

Glad everyone is OK! 4Runner should be totaled, but looks good for being in a head on collision.

Scenes like that make me wonder if I could ever do the "body mount chop." Can't say for sure, but looks like that front tire was on it's way into the passenger cabin until it hit that body mount.
