2014 Trail Edition Accident

Got hit by an F350 with a full brush guard.

The driver of the F350 told the officer he "looked down" and when he looked up he was about to hit her...I am betting cell phone also.....

Medicjack, glad your ok. Hopefully, your 4runner will be totaled and you can start fresh all over again. I wouldn't want it back after that.

I'm not surprised the F150 crumpled like that. They have the thinnest, weakest bed out there.

Those pics make my stomach turn. Glad you are ok, but that sucks about your new 4runner. I would accept nothing less than making sure your insurance totals that vehicle and you end up in a brand new one.

Glad to hear you're ok! That's brutal, only 100 miles on her? Glad to see these trucks stand up great and do their job in protecting you!

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but I have to address this. It is called a crush zone and it is designed that way. You may also have noticed the passenger cab is almost untouched. The rear frame and bed did what it was designed to do. I'm not trying to start a debate. Just making an observation of what I consider an ill advised statement. I was a dyed in the wool GM/Chevy fan until they crawled up to the government teat in 2009. I don't know if I'll ever buy another one. The current multiple year recall doesn't help with their argument either.

for each airbag, the replacement cost is roughly 2-6k each depending on size. fronts are cheap the side long ones get really spendy.

if the 2 front, 2 knee, 2 front sides, 2 rear sides from what I can see.

12k for the small ones, probably 6-8k for the big side ones.

and that's just the airbag replacement costs, add the bodywork, its gonna be close.

glad your ok. but man that's everyone ownership nightmare. I had that happen to me as a teenager. driving mom's turbo supra, wrecked it, driving back from the bodyshop and someone pulls out in front of me I cried like a little girl.

wow. Quite an accident. I'm glad to hear everyone walked away.

3 big trucks... lucky one wasn't a motorcycle or a little car. Were the speeds high?

If in the unlucky event the insurance company decides to repair your 4runner (which doesn't look promising), make sure to make a a diminished value claim against the other party's insurance company.

Don't forget you're entitled to a rental vehicle...having to pay for a rental gets the insurance company to move much faster.

21 years ago when I thought I was young and immortal, I was hit by a kid racing and got a bad concussion. I did get a good settlement, but I still suffer blinding migraines to this day. You may be hurt much worse than you think...don't let that slide.

Good luck with everything.

Glad you are ok, besides the soreness (don't tell them that, pain and suffering, you know).......make them give you a new truck, afterall it was NEW!

Glad you are feeling ok. It looks like your freakin' hood scoop went flying.
The bed on the F150 might be a crush zone but I shudder to think what would happen with a couple of sheets of ply in the back.
I hope you already called your dealer and ordered another.

Whoa

Glad to hear you're ok! I hope everyone involved is ok!

Wasn't it the small overlap frontal impact that the 2014 4runner did marginal on for the IIHS? To me, this looks close to a real life crash in that range and it appears the truck did pretty good! I can't even imagine what a smaller or less sturdy car would look like.

F150 and F350 is a lot of mass.

Glad to hear you're all good. My bet is on totalled btw.

I feel your pain. I bought mine in February and in April I was plowed by a deer in the passenger side. Airbags deployed down the entire passenger side. Insurance paid to have it fixed. New airbags, headlight assembly, passenger door, passenger seat, headliner, and a few other odds and ends came to almost $11,000.00 worth of damage. I've worked with the guy who fixed mine for years so I trusted him to do a good job. After I got it back it looked just like it did when I got it off the lot. Yours looks like it's definitely totaled though. Glad you're OK!
