2014 trail premium, right side lean

Hi,

I just pick up my 2014 trail premium on Sunday, does anyone notice the 2014 has right side lean? From flat ground to the wheel well, the difference on the front is 3/4 inch and the rear is 1/2 inch. I am taking it back to the dealer tomorrow to has it check out, on my 2012 sr5 I have the left side lean about the same difference in inches.. Just wondering if anyone have notice this problem.

This Is Normal For vehicles with KDSS, How do I know you have KDSS? you have the right side lean. Don't worry about it. Its normal. If you google search "Toyota Prado Lean problem" you will see.

I think it is normal for KDSS equipped vehicles...as a mater of fact I think in the service manual they specify that up to ~3/4" lean is within their build tolerances. Best thing to do in this situation is put away the measuring tape :)

No. The best thing to do would be to scrap the KDSS then pay a trip to ToyTec and let them fix that lean for you! :D
 
Would that "built-in" lean make your left headlight look a bit higher than the left?
Just wondering if that is what is going on with my truck since my accident. The left headlight was replaced an aimed. Not sure exactly how it was aimed i.e. something attached to the light, or shining against a vertical surface.
 
And doesn't a full tank of gas and the owner's own weight, when in the driver's seat, level it out? Sit in the thing and ask someone else to have a look. I bet she's darn near dead-nuts.
 
As stated factory limits are a maximum 20mm(.787") difference left to right or it needs tilt calibrated for the KDSS equipped TE's. Tilt calibration needs special bleeding tools and techstream however.You may be able to talk the dealership into doing it to get it better level since it is so new.
This is page out of the 2010 repair manual but should be the same for the 14's.

My 06 had a little lean to it = no KDSS
My 10 TE had a little lean to it = no KDSS
MY 13 TE has a lean to it = with KDSS

Its normal for all the 4r's that Ive had .
 
if mine leans.. i don't notice it.. and i don't care to take a measuring tape to it either.. even after i lifted it

Yep,
From my experience the Non KDSS tend to Lean to left side (down on driver side) and the KDSS tend to be down on pass side. Of course a few will vary as any with mass produced item, but as a general rule above applies.
 
One of my friends has a 2013 or so JGC all loaded up. His air ride suspension has went crazy and right now he has no common height on any corner. It looks hilarious.
 
So is the general consensus that spacers are the only way to deal with this issue? I have done the KDSS calibration with no luck and hear mixed results from a flush and fill of the KDSS system.

I think the general consensus is to just leave it alone, lol. There's probably a reason why the FSM specifies that up to ~3/4" difference is within acceptable tolerance. Keep in mind the rear height difference side to side changes a good ~1/2"+ or so when the gas tank is empty vs full. It's probably impossible to get it completely even at any given time :)

I'm not sure that is necessarily the case given that Toyota has instituted a fix for all the Prados that involves spring spacers.
 
The lean seems to be a Toyota Thing.

It seems to really bother some people. Tacomas have it. The FJ Cruisers have it. There are numerous threads over the stress the lean causes in Toyota owners. You can find people begging dealers to remedy the problem. You can find people looking for spacers or different springs for each side. Even people suggesting class action lawsuits.

It is normal in these vehicles. I have seen numerous threads on this. It is not causing any performance issues only psychological ones.
