2015 TRD Pro IFS build for Guyana South America

Have you tried the newer stainless uniballs? I was of the same negative opinion of uniballs based on past experience, but the new WSSXTs last at least twice as long as the 1" uniballs in the lower shock mounts.

I have a standing saved order at Summit Racing - 8 COM-10T and 2 WSSX16T, as I go through 2 sets of coilover bearings for each set of UCA bearings. I could probably get 2 lowers to each upper bearing on the shocks, but for the effort of remove/replace I can toss a few $12 bearings.
Send me some specific info so I can have a look and maybe try. We have eaten up SS uniballs on Chaos arms also. The mud is very abrasive and dry lube is washed off very quickly. There is nothing as annoying as a rattling squeaking suspension. If there is something better I am willing to try.

I have stopped using lube at all. When the teflon liner wears out, the bearing gets noisy and must be replaced, according to the mfg. I just replace them all every 12K or so.

Nice job! I've been planning the Expedition One washer bottle route but now seeing this, you need to tell me more. Does the Tacoma bottle not run through the fender?

Looks like part number for reservoir is 85315-04090. About ~$80 or so. Doesn't look like it runs through the fender, sits nicely in the area by the smog pump.

Tacoma washer bottle rests on the fender. 4Runner has a platform above fender for smog pump and PS Reservoir. Platform has to be trimmed so washer bottle can sit on fender!!

Water bottle sitting on platform. It is too tall and has to sit on fender.

Nicely mounted after being lowered on to fender.

I love it when threads come along that are worth reading! Nice build and I like the uniqueness of some of the modifications (Fuel tank & washer bottle). Nice work and thanks for sharing

milowilli Much respect to the skills and ingenuity here. I'm doing the washer bottle switch too. Originally planned to go with an Expedition One reservoir but I may just take this route. Can you provide me with what year Tacoma reservoir it is? Did you reuse all of the accessory parts from the original 4Runner reservoir?

Thank you, it's an 05-15 TACOMA water bottle, what year 4Runner will you be modding? Does it have an Air pump ?

what was the rationale for basing this build on a TRD Pro in the first place? Inferno paint? otherwise, the TRD package doesn't really seem to have added anything of value over a base Trail.

lots of cool stuff here. impressive work.

Owner wanted the color. Only TRD Pro parts changed were the front coil overs and tires.

Thanks. I noticed the part number mentioned in your thread after the fact. Mine is an '11. It doesn't have that air pump in that location(if at all) but it still has that tray piece.

Incredible build!

I love that every modification has been for function but it looks amazing too!

Really love the auxiliary fuel tank mod and the windshield wiper fluid bottle relocate.

I would be worried about the hi-lift (looks like a 68"?) sticking up so high and getting caught on branches, tree-limbs, low hanging jungle vines etc.

Wish I had the cash for the mods and the time to be able to enjoy them for what they are!

Well Done!

Yes the Tacoma Bottle has to sit on the fender directly so will require trimming of that tray.

i see, owner just wanted the Inferno paint.

i wasn't aware that the rear TRD Bilsteins could accommodate the additional travel with the ICON Overland springs.
Mounting a longer shock in the stock location can be tricky!! Longer shock means longer body and lowering the bump stops. This reduces up travel and makes the rear end buck when bottoming out. The Bilstein 5160 has the shortest body and longest travel of any shock that fits in stock location. Due to this I get more up travel by cutting off a notch off the coil bumps and using Timbrens on the chassis position for bump stops. The wheels can be compressed more.. Almost 2inches gained in up travel which makes for a smoother ride and room for bottoming out. Flexing gets great numbers too as the stuffed wheel compresses more. Big tire fender space on flexed trucks can be deceiving as the inner wheel is stopped full stuff by extended bump stops. The front ride height is fixed for performance and durability so raising the rear to get bump stop clearance was not an option. The truck has a rear steel bumper, aux tank, roof tent and drawers..And sits level.
