2016 4Runner Production Delay

Well if it does effect the delivery of mine, I wonder if I can get some free goodies out of it?

Silly, silly man. :-)

Walk away from that TE and you know what will happen? There will be 5 people in line as you leave the dealer waiting to scoop it up.

Hell, I bought my TE in transit and when it arrived we were doing the paperwork and another sales guy walks up to my sales guy and said "Hey, can I have the keys to that Black TE that came in, I have a couple over there that want to test drive it".

I beat my sales guy to the punch and said "Umm, no. It's mine. Sorry".

The couple looked like I just stole their first born child. LOL

Here in Denver they will actually be pretty honest on telling you there is not much wiggle room on the TE's. If you push it, they will let you walk because there is somebody else waiting in line right behind you that wants it.

I'm feeling lucky

Wow, I feel bad for anyone that is waiting on their 4Runner right now for delivery. I had to wait 4 months after ordering my 2016 TRD Pro in September last year, so I feel your pain. Good luck, but it's worth the wait! On another note, just FYI...if you're a Costco member they have a car buying service that is free of charge. Basically they give you a non-hassle, pre-negotiated price for your 4Runner. ALL 4Runner models are part of this membership service. I used it to purchase my TRD Pro as we all know that MOST of them go at MSRP or above. If I remember correctly. SR5 goes for dealer invoice, TE is invoice + $500, TE Premium is invocie + $1000 and TRD Pro is invoice + $1500, but I could be slightly off. Hope this helps some people get better deals!

See a lot of people ordering the trail or trail prem here. Why not the limited? What are the differences or reasons for one over the other. ? Just price or am I missing something else?

I have a Limited on order...its a build date of today (2/1). I have an email into my dealer inquiring if its going to be built today.

Oh no ...ugh ...:ohwell:this is bad news .....:redbrick:

We put our order in five weeks ago . Ugh.

I guess we ll have to rent a vacation vehicle for May now.

Wow what bad luck . There were very few Runners in lots back then . These 4 Runners are extremely popular at the beach . Seems like, every other SUV is a 4Runner.

Guess I'm going to have to call the dealer for an update.

That's the exact time frame we put in our order as well.

Crossing fingers.

Guys,
Read the article. There is a POSSIBILITY of steel shortage affecting Japan's auto production starting NEXT MONTH. The amount of vehicles on the lot now have nothing to do with it! Please get it back on topic instead of turning it into another "I found a 4Runner here..." or "I ordered mine X months ago" or "The wait is worth it..." thread. If you have info on the actual production numbers or the steel mill explosion then post it. Some of you guys are acting like there was a shortage that was caused by a steel mill explosion that hadn't even happened yet!

No....that's not what the latest news is ...There is a newer ......8 hours ago Toyoya announced they were stopping production in Japan on the 6 th and would resume by the 13-15 .....around one week. They are running on a limited schedule till the 6 th. full operations depends on how fast they can get the steel plant up and running or find alternative source .

Yes the shortage has happened to read the news

So post the link.

A 1-week stoppage hardly seems notable. It's only 2% of their annual production. Not really something that would be noticeable by a consumer.

I emailed my dealer this morning and was told since my order was placed on Saturday (1/30/16) it is fine and should be here in about 4 weeks.

This may explain why I couldn't find a single new TE within 300 miles of Knoxville, TN a couple of weeks ago when I bought my SR5.

I bought my TE back in July/August; I searched from Knoxville to Roanoke (and beyond), there were no TE's to be had within range (well, within Toyota USA turf; SET or GST may have had them but the dealers won't go to them to get one) (I did find one in Richmond, but that dealership wouldn't let it go.) This region just isn't allotted a lot of the Trails...

I actually said "I'll buy one" at the beginning of July, the first one they could find that they could get to me was actually about to load *IN Japan*... had my name on it before it even left port to come this way... I tracked the dang thing all the way across the Pacific to Oregon, then via train to outside Memphis, and was down at the lot twice the morning it arrived before it got there in mid-August.

LNBright I think you're right that this region doesn't get a lot of Trails. I found a used 2015 last month in Johnson City with 9xxx miles on it and the dealership's best price was almost identical to the MSRP for a new 2016. And the crazy thing is, they'll get what they're asking.

Unfortunately, I sold my 4th Gen last second private party for a great price, so I didn't have much time to look around for another Trail.

There is One gray trail premium and two silver 2016 all within 50 miles from my house in washington. Here in washington we hoard the 4runners.

I feel bad for you guys in other parts of the country. The dealership a few miles from my house currently lists 46 2016's and 5 more used 5th gens. So if you need one, look at the dealers in Co......
