Does everybody think the CFP Committee got it right? Thoughts?

I do actually I don’t care for Alabama but the were one of the top 4. They were the best team all year and just happened to lose a rivalry game where weird stuff happens the day of the regular season. If that lone loss would have come in late September or early October nobody would have ever questioned them being in. I still think the playoff needs to be 8 or 16 teams but they got it right for what we have. I can’t stand 3 of the 4 schools in but they got it right.

I think they got it right too. Would be hard to put a 2-loss OSU (with one of those a big loss to Iowa) over a 1-loss Bama (with that loss being against a good Auburn team). But I also wouldn't have been too put out if they had put in OSU. This is going to be a fun playoffs. 4 good teams. Glad to see Clemson/Alabama in the first round. Get some new blood in the finals.
I'm also glad that my Huskies lost to Stanford, thus keeping them out of the mix. They don't deserve to be there this year. Browning (qb) is the same as he was three years ago. No progression with him. Them playing Penn St will be a fun game to watch and one we actually have a shot at winning.

The guys doing play by play of the Apple Cup sure did think Browning hung the moon. It reminded me of Colin Cowherd going on non stop about Peyton Manning.

I totally agree!! I think they got it right. I don't see how anyone can justify putting in a two loss team that lost by 31 points to a mediocre 7-5 team. Yes you won your conference championship but all conferences and divisions aren't the same. Alabama was a consistent 1 or 2 until they got beat by Auburn and one 11 straight games and lost on the road to a Top 10 Auburn team. Do you think if Alabama lost to a 7-5 SEC team they would still be in the discussion? Of course not!
I think the New Years Six Bowl games are some really good matchups. I can't wait to watch the OSU/USC game and also the Auburn/UCF matchup.
I agree that Washington didn't deserve to get in but.....Christ Peterson has changed that program around. I remember a few years ago the Huskies were a mediocre 5-7 win team and these past two years he has done an excellent job and turning that program around.

Don't get me wrong. I like him. But if his game had improved a little each year, I feel like this years team would have been one of the best for sure.
I love our defense.
5-7? 2008 we were 0-12! So, I'm definitely not complaining. I was shocked that we were able to land him. I feel his wife/family were a huge part of the decision.
Personally, I think a 6-team playoff structure would be best. Take all 5 power conference winners and then one last team (Be it a year where a team like BSU goes undefeated, this years CFU or a team that beat some really good teams, but didn't win their conference title). Then reward the top two teams and give them a bye the first week.
If you keep it the same, while I agree with your above statement about conference championships, I do feel like they need to simplify the rules. Five power-5 conferences, 4 spots. Toss out the lowest on the totem pole that year. Then there's not much grey area on what you need to do. Yes, there will be plenty of years where some conferences are stronger than others, but that will vary over time.

Well this season couldn’t have ended in a more “Auburn” fashion. We destroy our rivals at home when they were both #1, but they end up making the playoff and Auburn is on the outside looking in... Still happy with this year though, after the LSU loss I would have laughed at you if you told me we’d finish the way we did.
SEC championship game was just ugly... and to make it worse I had to sit on the Georgia side of the stadium lol. Congrats to the Dawgs they earned it, but man I’d love to see Baker Mayfield hang 60 on them in the Rose Bowl. Being from GA, my UGA fan friends having national title bragging rights is the LAST thing I need.
I’m impartial to whether Bama or OSU deserved the #4 spot more because that Iowa loss was pretty bad, but it just irks me to see Bama slip in following a loss and a week off without even playing for their conference title. They always get their way it seems like. But I am a little biased :flipoff:

Man as a Bama fan I was going to say what a year for Auburn. They started out losing to Clemson and people were all over Gus then they get on a winning streak and then lose to LSU then really get it rolling and beat UGA and Bama. To be honest they were one of the hottest teams in the country and I thought they were going to beat UGA in Atlanta. I think a huge part of that was Kerryon Johnson. It just looked like this time around the Auburn Oline just didn't have it in them. I think once Kerryon fumbled the ball in the 4th quarter Auburn gave up. Anyways they get UCF in Atlanta so make the SEC proud!
Well if you want my opinion I think Alabama got in due to default. Let's look at this realistically. Bama was ranked #1 or #2 all year in the rankings and they lose to Auburn who was ranked #6 at the time. So you knew they weren't going to fall back to 7-10. So they put Bama behind undefeated Wisconsin and had them as the best one loss team with UGA then Miami then OSU. So With UGA winning and Miami losing it was basically up to Bama and OSU. I think the Iowa loss did OSU in. So besides Alabama who else would you put in? Miami? USC? Auburn? Bama was more deserving than those 3 teams. So to me I guess when you compare Alabama to OSU, Miami, Auburn, USC and Penn State they are the best team out of that mix by record. We will see if they deserved it when they get Clemson again. I doubt this game will be like Clemson/OSU last year when it was 31-0. Let this sink into your head. The Big 10 has been in the playoff every year and hasn't scored a point since 2014. They have been shutout the past two years. I also think that played a part in it.

I’m just poking at Bama. You put them against Ohio State, and I’d take bama to win 10 times out of 10, so I think the committee got it right. Like i said, I’m just a salty Auburn fan ranting so it’s hard for me to accept lol :biggrin2:
If it comes down to a Bama/UGA title fight this Auburn fan will be screaming Roll tide! Lol.

LOL it's all good man. Hey I was salty after the Iron Bowl. It is hard watching your team lose to an in state rival and especially over the SEC West. I knew that if it came down to the Iron Bowl at Auburn they would win. There is just a different feeling when it is like that.
What part of Georgia are you from? I live in Canton which is north of Atlanta.

Willie Taggert didn’t stay in Eugene long, he was the only thing I ever liked about the Ducks. I can’t see how anyone would go somewhere for only one season a fairly successful one where there was positive change. He must have really wanted to go to Florida State oh and $$$$ but then again Phil Knight backed Oregon has money to spend. Unless he hates it there or FSU was his dream job I just don’t get it.

From what I saw on ESPN he is from Florida and grew up a Florida State fan and that FSU was his dream job. I believe he coached USF from 2012-2015 if I am not mistaken. It will be very interesting to see how he does there and who Oregon ends up with. How about Kevin Sumlin at Oregon?

He is from Florida and did coach at South Florida but to leave after a year I don’t understand. I guess if it’s your dream job you take it no matter what line of work you are in. I’m more loyal to my employer than some too.
