285 is enough to look wide or need a new wheel?

Hi,

As I just finish my 5 inch lift with LC coil and shock. I need my 97 to be wider also. As she is really tall now.

Is the 285 with stock rims (16) will give a wide look? or I rather stay with 265 but using a another wheel.

A friends of mine ride a 265 on a 16 inch rims that give hime a REALLY wide tires nearly 2 inch out.

Any advices?

You either need spacers or rims with an offset.

285s will be slightly wider, but I don't think it will be nearly what you're looking for. Either get new wheels, or wheel spacers... or both!

My friends Tacoma ride a Spacer and he just got his wheel bearing changed. So So spacer at all! I think i will go for the wheel with 275 tires.

265's are going to look too small with that lift. Go with the 285.
I'm running 275/70-16, stock springs. I also ran 275/75-16's on stock springs for years.

I have a 6" lift and I was rocking 15x10 with 31x10.5x15 with a 1.5 spacers and it was actually a pretty nice wide stance which matched with my limited fenders now I'm using 16x8 with 285/75 with a 1.5 spacer and still got a aggressive stance to it

It doesn't matter if you go with a wheel with less backspacing or a wheel spacer. Either option is going to put more leverage on the wheel bearings and other front suspension parts.

I ran 285/65-16 duratracks on my stock wheels with no spacers. You may have to do a little fender trimming, all depends on your exact suspension. Check out my build thread in my sig to see pictures and what I did.
