After reading this post this has zero to do with a 4 runner. I was in my bros brand new Acura NSX super car and it hydro and hit the wall going down the fwy in LA at 55 mph. The amount of water speed and tires caused this to happen not his car. Cars and trucks are not immune to the effect of hydro unless you do 1 thing, slow down.i have felt many different cars of mine lose contact with the road in the rain and I always lift off the gas and slow down after that. Speed kills in the rain no matter what you drive.

There are all sorts of factors but this is most correct. Driving speed and tire pressure are the largest factors. Other factors like acceleration (especially RWD vehicles) and tire condition and tread pattern come into play but the largest are speed and pressure.

A slight right hand downhill curve in the road, a little more water on the road, my front wheels do not turn right, I’m heading into the semi on the left. Only easing up on my speed did I regain control and avoid a crash. An oh-shit moment that taught me a lesson to slow down when the road is slick from rain or snow.
