Never heard of a timing chain failure on an RZ. I've seen a couple balance shaft bearing failures that caused the shafts to break and go through the block though.

I never heard of a timing chain problem. It's a lifetime item.

Yep, and I'm still very happy with it. The only dual swing out I've been around that doesn't rattle. It is very well designed and engineered (which I can not take credit for). [MENTION=55891]Bandit Runner[/MENTION] gets all that credit.:hatsoff:

Can you help me find the Toyota part numbers for the two breather / ventilation hoses that go into the valve cover? The rear one hits the PCV and the front hits the metal tube. I ordered 12261-75080 and 12262-75050 and they were not the right shape and length. My truck is a 99 non-CA emissions, pic of the actual engine bay, hoses of interest have red arrows:

I run the factory weight, old Dino oil with high mileage additives. Tried synthetic but really there's no benefit to using the synthetic imo.

I agree with [MENTION=83502]Kryptoroxx[/MENTION]. I used to run Redline full synthetic 5-30w...expensive stuff. Now I buy Toyota OEM 5-30w (dino) from dealer. I have seen no difference in performance.
BTW, nice clean 4runner. Love the drone video.

PO was running full syth and changing it every 3k!! What a waste....
Was thinkin about going back to regular as it gets mostly city driving and would probably be better off getting the oil changed more regularly.
and yes its VERY clean for 200k 20 years old
I've got an FJ lift in the works but the rotors and pads need replacing asap. That is first naturally.
The wheels will get painted soon as well

I run Amsoil signature series synthetic and a Wix filter and i buy them by the crate so i get a pretty good deal,
ive been using one quart of 5w-50 and the rest 5w-30 and seems to be working great.

i ordered my hoses from Toyota parts Direct since i am in Canada and used this diagram and they fit perfect. Let me know if it still doesn't help ya.

hmm.. i printed that diagram and went down to the dealer and they pulled up the parts for me easily and matched TPD's prices.. i wish i still had the bags they came in, sadly i got rid of them a while ago.
