This is a cool build, you work fast! Is rust a constant struggle being so close to the ocean?

Thanks man! Nah rust hasn’t been much of an issue for me on this rig, mostly cause I keep it in the garage as much as i can. Plus it lived inland for the first 18 years of its life. Was definitely a constant struggle with my Tacoma that I had though (before I had a garage)..

Figured out my trailer wiring woes, cable wasn’t plugged into the Toyota trailer converter box.. lol.. So I plugged it in tested it, works great. Remounted the box with some new double sided 3m foam tape and redid the factory silicone waterproofing job done by the dealership.. Pretty happy that it was just unplugged and I don’t have to buy a whole new setup.

Actually it was a drunk driver who was trying to make a left turn light last minute as I was timing the green light going like 30-40mph (55speed limit). Yea everyone is ok, we went to the ER cause my wife is pregnant so wanted to make sure baby was ok. 3rd gen will be DD for short time, have my eye on a Lexus IS 250 2015ish.

Thanks man, it’s very true. I honestly think if the car wasn’t so damn safe we would’ve been a lot more messed up, air bags everywhere. Things are definitely happening pretty fast right now, I think I could have sold the car for more than they will give me though. We will see what happens. I’m probably going to go strip the parts to try and sell those. Had exhaust, intake, shifter, coils (probably won’t bother with those), weather techsx3, stubby antenna, custom lincense plates w/ bumper mount, led fog lights, hid kit from TRFS, led bulbs throughout entire car, and rims. (List for personal reference)

Talked to my insurance and they said they will try to recoup some of the money in parts from the other guys insurance company..

I park in a shitty part of town and ended up taking the rigid light bar and pods off before any thieves had a chance to swipe them. Also got my trailer wire harness wired up, really nice hidden spot for it IMO..

Smart, precautionary step on removing those lights. The trailer connect looks nice. Good luck on getting some money back...

Wow today while I was sitting at work I realized I had been driving the 4runner around with the passenger front lugs not torqued down!! So glad my wheel didn’t fly off..

Got my hvac controller repaired by [MENTION=107674]JRZEE2000TR4LTD[/MENTION] . Looks legit, he even glued the plastic case where it had cracked previously!

That's the kinds of stuff that happens when there's too much on one's mind. Glad you realized that before it was too late.

Did you pop-in LED bulbs too? If not, something to consider while it's out...

I just had him put regular bulbs in. I like the dome/overhead lights to be led but not the dash lights, a bit too bright for my taste. I always turn dash lights on min for best night vision.

I kind of copied where your USB connectors were coming out, when I saw your build thread this morning I remembered I still had to hook mine up lol. Ended up using the little cubby behind the cup holders instead though. Didn’t realize my headunit has ‘apple play’. It’s pretty legit, pulls up google maps from your phone, can text, call, iTunes, couple other small features.

Yea it’s definitely legit having google maps on the screen. I would always set my iPhone sideways in front of the dash cluster for gps but now I just use the HU. I still need some leds on the exterior (parking lights, brake lights, and rear turn signals.) probably also going to do Projectors in the headlights someday.

Did a couple small things over the weekend. After realizing both front parking bulbs were dead I decided to get leds all around on the exterior. Installed led parking bulbs, led 3rd brake bulb, led reverse bulbs, led rear signal bulbs.. Waiting on the brake led bulbs. Will take pics when they arrive. Also removed some small brackets from the OEM front bumper that were not needed.

You may end up with ABS and/or other issues if you go with all LED tail lights, so watch out for that.

Hmm thanks for heads up, might end up returning the brake lights if I can’t get them to work. I could probably just get a new relay like I did for the turn signals though right? I really like the output of the led bulbs vs the halogens and would prefer to have led if possible.

Its a load issue - the ABS system senses the brake light bulbs, in a way (as part of it checking if the brakes are on). You could put a load resistor on there if you have a problem and that might fix it. It would also be enough to just leave the center brake light as a halogen.

There is no relay as part of the brake light circuit to replace (and that wouldn't help anyway).
