Had these door lock motors sitting around for a while and decided to tackle that today. Just finished putting the new motors in, sealed them up with some black Toyota fipg and zip ties.

Cleaned and painted the transfercase housing, Marlin crawler said my order should ship out mid January.
Also made my first cad drawing for future 3d printing plans (hoping to get one soon). Your supposed to wrap a small piece of foam pipe insulation over it and it will go right onto the metal bar that holds the upper rear seat from folding down. Thing pokes me in the back everytime I sleep back there lol..

Haha hopefully it goes together pretty easy, doesn’t seem to complicated.. Didn’t realize with an auto transmission you need to relocate the gas tank

Interesting. I was wondering for no particular reason if any of the auto transmissions would be short enough to fit- or too long to accommodate the tank in its current location. 8 1/2" of extra length on the drivetrain, watching to see how you deal with the extra mount and the driveshaft.
On the plus side the squishy gas filled rock magnet won't be in the way any more.

There’s only like 4-5” between the gas tank and the big actuator (guessing for the AWD?) on the back of the transfercase. Will definitely be nice having the tank gone from that spot. Thinking I’ll just weld a piece of 3/16 from the transmission crossmember for the extra mount for now. Eimkeith is supposed to be coming out with a crossmember kit that I’m interested to see. I’ll probably just go to a local drive shaft shop.

So you're planned on keeping the AWD/Multimode and doing an F150 swap?
I've started doing some research into what will make this work and I was under the (false?) impression that it wouldn't - and you'd be better off switching to a J-Shift case.
If all it takes is going to an F150 tank - I'd much rather do that because 4 link and my gas tank is getting smaller by the trip.

Pretty much that’s all it will take, gotta cut the crossmember behind the tcase a bit too. Supposedly eimkeith is working on a crossmember kit, and also a 4 link kit. Definitely want to keep the AWD. Also win win cause now i don’t need that expensive gas tank skid lol.
Here’s a pic for reference, might do it like this temporarily until he comes out with that kit.

Yup! The tank swap seemed like a hassle at first but the more I look at it the more benefits I see lol. You should also check out this post if you haven’t, it adapts the toyota sending unit to the f150 pump/assembly and makes it simple to get your fuel gauge working properly.

Installed a borla muffler today, was a little more difficult than I anticipated but in the end I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
Is this the Borla ProXS Muffler? I used the 40665...
I like this mod quite a bit actually, the sound included, more like a truck.
You should have increased flow and clearance with a decrease in weight (12 lbs).

I got the 40664 thinking our pipes were 2.25” doh (the Amazon reviews even have a guy with a 3rd gen t4r saying it was the right one lol).. It would’ve been way easier with the 40665 2.5” one.. Didn’t want to bother with returning it and what not so I went with it. Yea tons of benefits for not a huge price.

I hear ya. I seem to recall doing the same, but can't remember what vehicle...
I remember that the 1st gen Tacoma engine specs, and you might know this, were rated higher than these 3rd gen 4Runners. Some have postulated it was due to our more restrictive muffler. If so, you might have liberated a little extra power...
