Any change HID lights will be available on the 2014 or should I quit dragging it out and just get a 2013?

Highly doubt it. Any change in headlights would probably be to halogen projectors, which are already in Camrys, Siennas, Highlanders.

Plus, even if they do, $10 says they'll only appear on loaded LEs.

.... Even Ford did this with their F150s!....

IIRC, only on the top-top-line models. Others are halogen projectors.

7/10 of their F150 models have them as an option or are standard. The option is $4500CDN but that includes a bunch of other things.

I'm still jealous of yours. I've thought a lot about getting a set of GX460 + TE headlights and sending them over to Ceasar...the cost is just a tough pill to swallow.

I'd venture that FX-Rs are 9/10ths as good as 460s.

Check ducmonsta's build for easy bumper-off, and man-up.

I've been waiting and praying that Toyota releases a factory HID for the 4R but it's looking dismal. Even Ford did this with their F150s! For a vehicle that costs as much as these, it's hard to believe it's not even an option. Stuck with getting bent over in the aftermarket realm - Probably $2,000 for us up in Canada, all said and done.

Is something wrong with the halogen lights? I replaced the h11 bulbs (which were already pretty good) with H9s and my 4runner puts more light on the road than my hid equipped 335i ever did.

I think the h9 puts out around 2300-2500 lumens... Hid around 3200 ( lower the "bluer you go" ).

I've done HID retrofits using hella 90mm projectors in the past, but see no reason on this vehicle.

same here. been running Narva H9 lows and Toshiba HIR highs for almost 3 years now. great output, IMHO.

Interesting, maybe I should look into H9 bulbs. Are you using PIAAs or something else?

When I had my G35, the light output was pretty impressive and I do miss it which is a reason why HIDs are still in my head. For my line of work now, it's a lot of rural driving with plenty of big wildlife (like moose, elk and deer). Given the time of the year in Canada, it's dark early. At the end of the day, it's a function upgrade rather than an appearance thing.

Thought about putting in some Rigid fogs down low when it's really blizzarding, as the high beams just make the situation so much worse!

The biggest difference is in the focusing of a good HID projector.
Notice the width,focus and intensity of the HID projector light.BMW HID's are cool but are not rated very high and I had them in my M3 and don't compare to what I have now.Here's some pics of stock vs. HID projector . The stocks are pretty good for Halogen but notice the width difference and the light leak above the cutoffs on the oems and is what hits other oncoming drivers eyes or rearview mirror of peeps in front and especially when increasing the intensity with H9's or cheap PNP HID kits.IMO,There's nothing better then quality HID projectors with quality 4300k bulbs.

From Wikipedia: The lumen...... is a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source.

It would seem you answer your own question. From 2400 lm to 3200 lm is a 33% increase in measurable light. If you cannot detect that, you may as well save your money.

Neither BMW nor Hella are known for the best of HID lighting.

Agreed however, that the 5G has good reflectors, (for reflectors). I know this with certainty tho, I'll never have another vehicle without high quality HID projector headlights.

did this for the fog lights. Thanks to your head's up, I'll now do it in the headlights also.

6th-generation 4Runner for 2015 model year???

Edmunds.com predicts the 4Runner will skip it's mid-generation refresh and instead be redesigned (6th generation???) for the 2015 model year (Mid 2014 calendar year). This prediction seems plausible, because starting with the 2017 model year the tougher EPA fuel economy standards begin phasing in for all automakers. Perhaps, a hybrid powertrain or downsized engine with DI and turbocharging will be offered in the next generation to meet the tougher EPA fuel economy standards that will be in effect in the near future.

In essence, this system equips each injector with a pressure sensor that communicates its fuel pressure to the engine ECU and, in doing so, significantly reduces exhaust emissions and increases fuel efficiency, compared with the conventional open-looped technology that does not have feedback function from the injectors."

I wouldn't be opposed to a slightly smaller V6 with Turbo making more power and using less fuel.

The diesel breakthrough looks pretty cool, though it also looks expensive as injectors are already expensive for diesel.

I always thought a diesel would be cool, until a thread popped up on a local forum outlining everything you need to look for and the maintenance and repair costs on diesel trucks...
