Was talking to a dealer and he said can't find a TRD pro in Texas. I might just have to wait I get the quicksand.

Man I went to the dealer near me in Houston and was asking about a TRD. They sat me down in the office and told me that I had a zero chance of getting a TRD. None. Zilch. He pulled up all the undelivereds around me and confirmed that every one was spoken for. I came home and emailed all those dealers that had them coming. Every one emailed me back and said their's were already taken, just awaiting delivery. The next morning one called me and said their's would actually be available. About two weeks later I had it in my garage and 6000 miles later I love it!

I don't think mine ever had a previous buyer. I believe they mark them as sold so other dealers don't try to get them to transfer them over. Just a theory.

Nice!! What color did you end up getting? I looked online right now and inventory shows there's one in Austin in black, but I like that Inferno color.

I got the black. I wanted the black the whole time and limited my searches to black. Having now seen the inferno it would be a tough call for me between the two. I love everything being blacked out but that inferno is super sharp in person. Pics do it no justice.

I only had to go down to the island to get it so I got lucky I guess.

Hmm, black handles would be cool, and likely an easy swap if you get the OEM parts and just paint 'em glossy or matte black. I'm doing bushwacker flares the minute they come out. THE...MINUTE!

But let me clarify my point earlier, I love the Inferno color, not as much as the FJC TT 'Cement' color, but Inferno is great. The problem I have with a lot of TRD Pro owners is they think they bought some unicorn in terms of performance, when it's just a TEP with some facia parts and an okay suspension package. There's really nothing unique even with my 4runner build that a bunch of money couldn't achieve as well.

I think the TRD Pro is a great trim because it's brought in a lot of non-4Runners who now have 4Runners, which keeps the platform viable and doing well for Toyota, which keeps the 5th gen popular for upgraded parts. But I've met more owners who seem to have an attitude or are mis-informed, than other folks.

Again it's JUST a trim package, y'all.

It's actually built more off the base TE with softex and some bolt ons. It's still missing the sunroof and side mirror signals that the TEP has. IMO the TRDP should have been based off the TEP with KDSS like the pre-production models. For whatever reason when it went production they removed the sunroof, side mirror signals, and the KDSS. Just seems like they cheaped out on the consumer in the end.

Because you really need side mirror signal indicators...in the desert?

Also removing the sunroof makes the vehicle structurally more rigid and lighter.

While getting mine serviced today, the sales manager told me that Toyota has not allowed dealers to take deposits until the TRDP has been allocated to the dealer. Last year that wasn't the case. They said that the TRDP will be even harder to get in 2016. I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Funny how there is so much hate for the TRD Pro , yet 1/2 pictures in here have TRD Pro parts swapped in on regular SR5s & Trails .

And this is exactly the kind of statement that gets us non-Pro owners belligerent. Your Pro body parts fit precisely 2 model years so far (14-15, 16 to come). This generation of 4Runner has been in production since 2010 for those who haven't bothered to check. Convince me you have even seen 1/2 of the pictures posted in the 5th Gen forum, much less that half of them have Pro parts on them. I'm guessing closer to 1/2 of 1 percent, maybe.

FWIW I don't hate the Pro. I think it's a nice looking ride but still would have opted for a Trail because of what I had planned for mods. But comments like this really have a way of pushing some peoples buttons, and you wonder why there is hate?
