4runner TRD Pro

Thanks. Right after I posted, another salesman at the same dealership told me they would order my TRD Pro today and that it would be in the April allocation for delivery in either May or June. I went ahead and told them to place the order, but I still maybe open to other White TRD Pros that are out there and haven't yet been sold. Either way, hopefully I'll have one by June at the latest.

Who did you order from? I'm in Houston and my dealer just gave me confirmation that my white TRDP that I put a deposit down on in December is scheduled for production, with an estimated port delivery of 3/26.

I put my deposit down in late December, and it took until this week to actually get confirmation that it is being made. They did confirm within 2 or 3 weeks that Toyota accepted their dealer order and put it in the pipeline.

Gullo Toyota in Conroe.

Hi all, I just put deposit on a 2017 TRD Pro - Alpine White.
I'm trying to find any other Canucks that have the 2017 Pro, to see if it came with the sunroof.

I know, I know... TRD Pro has no sunroof - in the US. But the dealer assures me that mine will have the sunroof (in Canada) because it's a standard feature on the base model.

I have been literally scouring the entire internet for real hard facts on this and cannot get a clear answer. Toyota.com and Toyota.ca offer very different trim packages for 4runner. Every photo on the Canada site shows a sunroof, on all models. Moonroof is not listed as a differentiating feature in any of the "Compare Packages" pages.

So, I'm really hoping the Canuck version of TRD Pro has it, cuz it's a deal-breaker if it shows up without it. It might arrive by end of next week!!! :eyebrows:

I am with you on the lack of info or pictures about the Canada TRD PRO. I put a deposit first week in Jan and was told has sunroof because it is standard.
I was also told there are only 10 coming to Canada right now. I was lucky the dealer called the regional distributor and assured me I will get one.
As for there only being 10 for all Canada I dont know if that is the first wave or he was just blowing smoke up my A$$ but he told me after I put the deposit.
As for yours coming in a week I hope you are right, did you get a VIN # because I was told they are nt even made yet and would be late march or April before I will get mine. If you got a VIN# maybe but if not dont hold your breath because it is not made yet.

Each Toyota dealership is allocated a number of vehicles. They have to sell x amount of that vehicle to get 1 allocation. Hence, volume dealership will get more allocation than the smaller dealerships. If the dealership receives a vin then that vehicle is almost ready to ship from Japan. It only takes them a day to build the vehicle. Now if the dealership has not receive a vin# then that vehicle is in line to be built.

Now assuming that the dealership says that there are no more allocation for that region, it may be possible that their tooling up for a redesign. It is also possible that their just waiting word from Toyota to get more allocation. The only people that really know whats going on are a few key people at the dealership and they don't tell anyone what's going on. These guys want to sell you what's on the lot. They want to sell you now not tomorrow.

Thanks for that insight, helps me understand the info from my salesman a little better.

Same here. Local dealer said mine should hit the lot late March and they don't have a vin yet because it's not made.

When did you guys get your VIN? My sales guy said my truck just populated in the pipeline. Estimated arrival date is 3/26. He said it doen't have a VIN yet, but I thought some guys were getting VINs prior to the truck shipping.

As soon as it hit the dealers allocation, I had a VIN and an invoice. Thats was about a month prior to delivery.

I lucked-out and found an imported US-model 2015 TRD Pro at a local used car dealer, late last year. Still can't believe my luck.

I'd imagine the reason (if true) that so few are coming to Canada is because the MSRP in Canada is actually quite low compared to the USA, adjusting for currency. So Toyota will make less money on TRD Pros in Canada than in the USA.

Ok, new question. I just checked with my dealer this morning and he went from being highly confident that he could get me a TRD Pro to saying my chances were 50/50 now. I asked him why he couldn't just put in an order directly from Toyota, and he told me that there may not be anymore allocated for Gulf States Toyota this year and that he's waiting on distribution to let him know whether they can even get one. I asked him if that was just for his dealership and he told me that any dealership in the Gulf States region would have the same issue. So, is this dealership shooting me straight? Or should I order through a new dealer? I've bought multiple vehicles over the years from this particular dealership but this is the first time I've had to special order a vehicle so I don't know whether this is normal or not. BTW I'm looking for a Super White TRD Pro that isn't already spoken for if anyone has a line on one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Toyota in Manassas, VA has one available. They weren't workable when it came to out of state taxes though.

If you are willing to travel, check with Toyota of Fayetteville and Toyota of Rogers, both in Northwest Arkansas. I had my choice of Cement or Super white at both dealerships. They could be already sold but were not spoken for before they got here. I did not technically "order" mine, I just got lucky and inquired about one while it was in transit to the port.

Reading through all these comments on how many issues people are having is craziness... Getting my Cement was one of the easiest car buying experiences I have ever had. I basically told the sales manager if we can meet at my out the door price, I'll write you a check right now. They looked at my trade for about 10 minutes, he came back in and said "alright, I think we are there...". Now, of course my brain went "wait, I should have gone lower!". But in the end, I did all my homework on what my trade was worth and was happy with that price.

All of this took 30 minutes and I had a 2017 Cement secured. After reading through this thread, it now feels like I won the lotto with this thing... :biggrin1:

For everyone still searching, my only advice would be broaden your search area. Make a road trip out of it and see some sights along the way. If you have to go across the US to get one well, it's broken in by the time you get it home.

Mine is supposed to be at the dealer tomorrow night for a Saturday pickup given they need time to PDI the vehicle. Fingers crossed. Been a long time waiting lol.

Demand is higher in some areas such as Colorado and places where a vehicle like this is either more popular or in need. Also seems to be dealers adding a markup to the car, which I don't blame people for not wanting to pay. I didn't have a problem getting one but I also decided to buy one last year and put 3 deposits at 3 different dealers. Other people I know walked onto the lot and there just happened to be a TRD sitting there. I think it's based on where you live and supply and demand.

awaiting delivery of my Cement from Vegas (im in Cali). These california stealerships are asking 10k over msrp....crazy. I know there's a dealership in South Carolina that has a cement in stock for 36k.
