4runner TRD Pro

I thought I'd give an update on my new TRD Pro. I've put about a hundred miles on it since I picked it up on Friday. I had never even driven a 4Runner before I picked mine up on Friday and I couldn't be happier with my decision to get the TRD Pro. The suspension works great. The ride is very smooth. It has a bit of nose dive under heavy braking, but I'm used to that as my Ford Raptor did the same thing. The interior is very quiet with minimal tire noise. It feels more like I'm driving a luxury SUV instead of an off-road oriented SUV. I'm not too concerned about fuel mileage but so far the display is showing that I'm averaging 16 mpg. I'm going to try and get out to the desert in the next month and see how it works in the dirt.

Wow, that looks GOOD!!! White is probably my favorite color. Can't wait to take one for a test drive.

I've been in contact with a couple dealers (Minnesota) who initially didn't have any idea of what I was talking about but that seems to be quite typical. I finally had them figure out if we could order one- I have 2 dealers saying yes we can and one hasn't responded yet. The one who is really checking on it said it would be around late Dec/early Jan. No dealership here has yet to see one in person but one said that they should have one next week.

By the way, I'm also getting Inferno.

Thanks 4. Sounds like our experience with the MN dealers is exactly the same. I have one dealer that is going to try and get an inferno allocated to them, but that's as close to placing an order that any dealer would go. This is my first time buying a vehicle like this and have been absolutely stunned at how little information is shared with the dealers (or that they let on...). I'm basically begging to fork out $45 G and can't get any takers. Kind of funny actually.

I haven't even seen any TRDP Taco's locally yet, I'm strongly considering making a road trip/flying somewhere to pick one up. Kind of feels like MN is last on the allocation list.

My local dealer Bob Howard Toyota has 1 black and 2 whites with no names on them. I like the white better in person. They have a boat load of the TRD Pro inferno tundras you can see in the background. Im dealing with a guy named Ray on a TE KDSS right now, he is a manager, super cool dude to deal with, no BS.

Ray is a cool dude. He actually owns (or did a few months ago) a bad a$$ turbo supra.

I tried and tried to buy from them (right down the road from me) but I was after a Trail with KDSS and one could not be found in the entire gulf states region. I was working with Ray and one of the salesman named Billy Sterrett (good guy). I'm flying to colorado this weekend to pick one up.

Glad to see them getting some of the TRD Pro's.

Ray text me this morning, said he has a gray TE KDSS coming in today.

Hmmm...not sure what the deal was. I was after a white 2015 trail with KDSS. Ray / Billy searched the entire region a couple weeks ago including their incoming orders and said there was only one in the entire gulf states region and it was already spoken for. They said my only option to get exactly what I wanted was to special order and wait 2-3 months.

Colorado, NM, Utah are flush with them. I would have much rather bought from Bob Howard, but after two months of trying with them, I gave up.

That's awesome they're starting to get some. Maybe they were inundated with KDSS requests in 2014 and have changed their ways.

Its the same here in Colorado. Dealers won't even move without a $500.00 commitment.
No information from them at all. The best information has been in this forum by far....
I know of only one black one in the state so far.

Hey Sean,
I see you're in Inver Grove. Go to Inver Grove Toyota and talk with Jim Hayes. He knows the scoop! I just ordered one today. They also have a Trail Premium that you can test drive. He told me to expect January for delivery which is fine with me. Tell him that Hal sent you in. If I get a referral check from them I'll buy you a beer!

Great to know Hal. Kinda funny, went to them in Late August and they didn't know anything. I will say though it wasn't a bad experience and they seem to have the best prices on 4runners in general. If I decide I can wait that long I'll absolutely go back and ask for Jim via you're reference!

I purchased mine yesterday site unseen. I didn't even know about the TRD PRO until yesterday. I was going to buy my wife a limited and ended up buying ME the TRD. She can get something else . Mine won't be here until the 8th. I did figure out how to find the one I'm getting using Toyotas website. I also found out how to determine what dealer is getting them in and on what dates so you can call them to see if they are pre-ordered if you guys would like that info. I normally don't participate in forums, but I learned a lot about the TRD PRO after buying from reading this thread so I figured I'd offer to help. You guys are a very dedicated bunch. Thanks for the info and great forum.

In other news, anyone want to buy a 2014 stingray? LOL

Quick question. My sales guy yesterday said that the TRD Pro comes with the smoked headlights and tail lights just like the Trail.

I can't tell in all the pictures I've seen if that's the case. I also can't find it in the brochure or online.

Does anyone know for sure?

Dude, it is a Trail Edition, just a limited edition of a trail edition.

This might not be the most efficient thing but it worked for me:
GO HERE===> Southeast Toyota :: 4Runner or buyatoyota.com if you don't live in GOD'S Country. (After playing with it, some regions won't show TRD pro PERIOD) This is how I found out though. I believe 3 regions so far have them from my research.

Here's the annoying tricky part; you have to narrow inventory search results each time you change a search variable (I just swapped between 2014 SR5 and then back to 2015 TRD). Some are arriving at port and awaiting ordering by dealers. These will show up on the search as available no matter where you search in your region if they are not allotted (This is my educated guess but due to the available date is probably accurate). If you select dealer "ALL" it will not show you the dealer that vehicles are going to right away. You have to sort by each individual dealer. If they have a TRD alloted then you will see. If not it will not show a dealer but it will still show vehicles. It does not mean they won't get one, it just means that they are not allotted one at the time of your search.

You can also search by available date (date scheduled to be at the dealer).

In summary:

1)Search within a radius of zip code.
2)Narrow inventory results to 2014 and then again to 2015 TRD PRO.
3) Under dealer select dealer one by one
4) repeat step 2

I hope this helps.
The regions I found available now are north west, midwest, and southeast.
