That is my understanding that it is full synthetic. I however wouldn't wait 10,000 miles for the first oil change on a brand new vehicle. I'd probably get it changed in 3000.
To each their own but Toyota would not release those number if it wasn't extensively tested. Getting it changed at 3,000 is just following an old paradigm IMHO. I could understand those used to doing it at 5000 miles but 3000 miles not so much. I'm willing to bet most just follow the manual and recommendation from Toyota themselves and to do I have not seen any major problems with our 4Runners following the 10,000 mile oil change.
