4runner TRD Pro

Is anyone putting a 3M style clear bra on the front of their new TRD Pro's? The only other car I ever bought brand new was a 07 FJ Cruiser and I regret not putting 3M on the entire front end. My hood, exterior A-Pillars and windshield looked like the surface of Mars when I traded it in. The newer 5th Gen's have a similar "boxy" front end and I would anticipate similar damage long term to the paint.

P.S. Still waiting for the phone call from the dealership. They told me it would be sometime at the end of the month.

Last year, the TRP's that showed up at the dealer lots mostly had this installed.

I didn't special order my '16 and it came w/ wrapped front end, door jams and mirrors. It's heavy duty film and although pricey, I like the option.

I was back and forth on it, had them go ahead an install it at the port. It looks good. From what I can tell, they don't put anything on the bumper though, it's on the hood and fenders, mirror caps, along the bottom of the doors, inside the door handles and the edge of the doors.
As stated, it isn't cheap and also if you wax your truck, you'll get the white residue along the seams of the covering. Just annoying to clean out. Otherwise, I think it looks good. I've was scared of the yellowing, etc. I figure if it starts to do anything weird, i'll just pull it off. Or, since it was put on at port, it has a warranty on it. I thought it was lifetime, will have to check the pamphlet that came with it.

Been using it on all my cars past 10 years or so including my TT FJ. No issues with yellowing. On my TRD Pro have it on hood, bumper, mirrors, door edges and under door handles. Done at the dealership and between that and tinting of the front door glass, I paid about $1,500.

Happy to report that I received my Cement TRDP last weekend here in MA. I've been in a in a limited since 2014 (keep it), and ready to see how the TRDP compares.

Mine should be here Thursday! Shipping out of the port tomorrow to my local dealer. It's a 5 hour trip from the port to the dealer, but longer when accounting for stops along the way. Fingers crossed.

Paint protection film

Does anyone have recommendations on where to purchase pre-cut paint protection film for the 2017 TRD Pro? I would rather apply it myself than pay the extra cost of having someone do it, but locating a place to purchase the pre-cut film at a reasonable price seems difficult. Thanks for any help and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. I want as little chips in my Cement paint as possible and living in the desert makes for lots of rocks around our do some damage

Finally got some good sun to show the slight metallic in the paint on the Cement Pro. Here is a close up and wide shot of the same area. Hopefully this gives you all a better idea of the look. You do have to get close to notice it.

Mine came with a forced sale (thanks dealer! Ugh) of a nanofusion shield. Don't drive it in the rain unless the shield has had time to cure....mine promptly started peeling off on the drive home. That aside I do think they're a good idea and I am now thinking about having the doors and other areas done.

Got the overlay kit in today as well. Pretty easy, but if you use this I would suggest cleaning up the back edges of the overlay before putting on. Some of the letters had little "tags" of extra plastic. Just filed it off lightly.

Thanks, no mods needed. Bolt on and a little drilling:

Awesome. I may sell my already ordered Shrockworks sliders and do the steps instead. So badass and I'm not really heavy off roading, so big and burly isn't a necessary thing for me. Another side note - how do you like the Borla exhaust?

Looks so much better!!! Nice

Okay thank you. I'm going to press them to show me the info and if they can't I'm going elsewhere.

So my experience got weirder today. Dealer called me and said that my new date is March 31st. So I've gone from end of January to middle of February and now end of March after ordering in October with a deposit. Also no VIN or proof of allocation but they did send me a one pager that said Pre-Sale.

What is weird is I selected no additional options when I ordered but the bottom of this sheet has $2,254 in options listed which include..

Sliding Rear Cargo Deck
charging and connectivity kit
Remote engine start
Glass Break Sensor
Ball Mount
Cross Bars for Roof Rack
Black Tube Step Running Board

I am now very confused by this entire process. Can anyone explain how they keep pushing back the date yet can't prove one is coming but yet the one coming has all of these options? Seems really sketchy. Also are these all factory installed options or dealer installed? I don't want any of them.

I am getting the same nebulous time frame here in South FL. I gave them a hefty down payment but can't get an actual date or options listing. Furthermore the consumer sheet they emailed & showed me when I went in person had a VIN but they say I may not get that vehicle. I did some searching on the inventory available site after I made the deposit and the vehicle in question had disappered yet had been present the day before. Not sure what to make of it, but plan for the worst hope for the best.

Sounds like they are trying to maximize their profitability which they are entitled to. Not great business practice, but if this is their sole TRD Pro allocation, may be the reason behind it. I am not clear on which of those options are manufacturer vs port vs dealer installed but I'm pretty sure the ball mount is not hard to install. :D

Sounds to me like it's a take it or leave it option. Sales pricks do this all the time on high demand vehicles.
