Black Overlay Mod

I got the 4Runner Blackout overlay from the dealer for free. Since there wasn't any discount on the TRD PRO, dealer added All Weather mats and Blackout overlay.
After seeing everyone installing the blackout overlays, I thought it was good until I saw it in real life. Black on black is hard to see and sometimes, it all blends in and can't see the lettering.
I wanted to make something similar to the front TRD GRILLE where the "TOYOTA" letttering is dark Silver and the background grill is black. I went to Home Depot and I could not find the matching color. Someone showed me the can of flexidip ( similar to plastidip). I've used it because if it looks bad, I can peel it off. I think it turned out pretty good. I'm satisfied.

Been a lurker for a while and finally decided to make an account. Just put a deposit down on a TRD Pro last night. Salesman said he had a cement coming in a couple months so I pulled the trigger even though he was sketchy. He's already sold 3-4 TRD Pro's. Wondering what the likely hood of them getting more later? It is a big dealer and from reading the comments I understand they're more likely to get them.

Got the price to 45,239 and that's with them adding options on. Even had them take off the cross bars and steps since I can get aftermarket. They said they couldn't remove anything else (which I know is a lie), but I assumed they did that to raise the price anyway and they knew they could sell it like that to someone else if I didn't want it with those add ons.

Just wanted to put this out there to see if it's only in the Gulf States or everywhere, but they had a white TRD Off-Road Premium with a "TRD Pro Clone Kit." It had a Pro grill, matching black front bottom bumper, TRD wheels, AT tires, leveling kit, and looked like n fab type steps. The back didn't even match as it had the silver rear bumper part instead of the matching black. The badges were still chrome as well too. It was a 5k+ option markup which made it 46k+ which is more than the pro. So dumb, but watch out for these if you somehow don't know the differences.

Sorry for the noob questions but can someone tell me if the passenger seat is electric or not?

Also does the rear seats slide back and forth for more room if needed?

Yes I'm sitting in it as I type.Options it has are: All Weather Floor/Cargo liners, Paint Protection Film, Door Edge Gaurd, and Exhaust Tip.

Go to toyota.com and punch in a Des Moines zip code. When I do it I am able to build a 4Runner that has different options and accessories than I can using an Arkansas zip code.

No it doesn't but it leans back. There are 3 lean settings. It's pretty comfortable with the neck cushion.

Thanks. Building one online vs having one IRL are completely different matters. I've requested w/o the tray, but the dealer has no control over factory options (tray), only port-installed options (cargo covers, cross bars, remote start, etc). I've passed on 3 with the tray, despite my request that it be excluded. Starting to suspect they are being built this way without exception.

My understanding is it depends on the region. Different regions get different options as well as certain number of specific colors. Our northern brothers got lucky in that their Pros come with the sunroofs. The region you are in may not get anything but Pros w/sliding tray (gulf states is this way). The midwest guys seem to be able to remove it from their builds. Putting different zip codes into toyota.com will show you what option and accessory differences are available to each region.

If you want one without the tray you may try looking at getting one ordered from a region that lets you cut it out of the build.

Just had my steering wheel replaced at the dealership because it was fading already. They replaced it with part # 45100-35540-CO

It looks the same, but it's not a leather look or feel. It's flat black instead of shiny-ish like the original, and feels like plastic, not leather. The stitching and perforated look is the same though.

Wondering if the new 2017 are shiny leather feel, or this flat black plastic feel even though the part number shows its leather...

Thanks for the image, but I can't tell if it's flat or shiny really...my new one and old one look the same, with the stitches and perforated look, but the old one feels like leather and is more shiny like the seats, while the new one feels like it's molded plastic to look like the original and feels like the dash.

Mine looks like the one in the picture. I don't consider it shiny but maybe you would? Feel's like leather or synthetic/bio leather to me, but maybe feels like plastic to you? Post us a picture of your steering wheel and maybe we will see the difference you are referring too?:typing:
