4runner TRD Pro

After much searching I am finding it very difficult to find a TRDpro. I found out there were 50 units allocated to my region. All 50 were sold with a huge waiting list behind this. After speaking with about 10 different managers. I found out what I believe is the truth about ordering one. Yes, many of the dealers will just take one's order. But from what I was told, they are already to the point that it is likely an order won't ship until the 2018s are in production. Don't shoot the messenger, just repeating what I was told. Only GOD & Toyota knows the truth of the matter as I received much conflicting info.

I still haven't given up although I have come close to deciding to get an off-road premium with kdss. Gonna stick it out for a few more weeks on finding a TRDpro.

What region are you in?

i wouldn't put too much faith into what you were told. sounds an awful lot like dealership bullshit. its only march......is trd pro model year only a couple months of production? i placed an order feb 11 i think it was and mine is at port waiting for processing. why wouldn't toyota build as many pro's as they receive orders for?

call around to other dealers and find someone that will order it for you. and do yourself a huge favor and just speak with a sales manager. anyone below that level is a waste of time. good luck

It's a limited model. If you don't have a vin for it chances are slim.

A couple of things on this conversation...
- you really can't "order" a TRDP. You can give your name and deposit to a dealer, they MAY get an allocation, and if it's your turn on the list, you can take what they're getting or not. You may have some choice on options and accessories depending on how far the truck is in the build process.
- these are limited to about 3000 per year, not sure how many make it to North America. Toyota likes to keep the buzz going with this vehicle by keeping it rare.
- allocations to dealerships seem somewhat random, but clustered in regions. The dealerships in Colorado were quiet for months, then all of them got allocations around the same time. Get in line at various dealerships as far away as you are willing to go.

Not saying anyone is wrong but we do see each has a different understanding of the number being released by toyota and the "order process". Since I made the post this morning I have been told several other versions. And I do only speak with managers. Haven't spoken with a regular sales person in 25 years. And I do call out-of-state.

SOOOO; this morning I found one 3 hrs away and put a deposit on it. It was a difficult decision as I received a quote for 3,200 off MSRP on a Off-Road Premium with KDSS and remote start. And here I just made a deposit on one at MSRP because I like the TRDPro trim. I must be nuts, as I doubt any resale value of the two trucks comparison is going to re-coup the extra investment. But heck, I do believe in getting what I want instead of settling, and it is only paper than has no real value that I am trading for the truck and when I die it won't make a lick of difference and if it was a mistake, and it is the last mistake I make, look at how good I am doing!

VROOOM!

Installed hidden bar, replaced fog bulbs with phillips and replaced halogen with hid's and ripping out remote start.

Car gets dropped off next week for full front clear bra and tint.

May I ask why you are ripping out the remote start?

I have an option before I pick mine up as to the Toyota one being added (not on truck from factory) or an aftermarket one being added. The advantage of the Toyota one is same remote works and the advantage of the aftermarket is truck stays running but additional remote.

What color did ya get?

I don't believe any of the talk that you can't find a TRD Pro. Search outside your region. There's plenty of TRDPs out there that hit lots and the owners back out. When I was searching few weeks ago, I had found options of allocations with various delivery time between Virginia, Texas, Washington and Colorado.

Send out mass emails, call sales managers, etc. put in the effort and you will reap what you want.

There is a Facebook page called "TRD Pro Enthusiast Buy and Sell" that dealers are allowed to post Pro's on when they become available for sale, as of yet I have not seen a single TRD Pro T4R on there, plenty of Tacomas and Tundras, but they are usually marked up.

If any of you know of any dealerships where I could find a Cement at MSRP let me know. My friend and I are both looking and haven't been able to reserve outside of paying these insane dealer markups in CA. I've contacted 75+ dealerships as well ones in neighboring states. tHX!

I had almost given up but found one incoming in 3 weeks. But did have to pay MSRP. They are not budging on these, from the 20 or so dealers I have talked to. For the one I found, I called the owner of the company. The first thing he asked is how did I get his phone number - perseverance.
