Not only should the key be zip tied to the lug wrench you also should have gotten a registration card with your lock info on it to send in if you ever need to replace a lock or the key. Mine was in a plastic bag in the case with all of the owners manuals.

I just checked both. They look and feel similiar but the 17 feels like it's softer by touch than the 16.

What's everyone's thoughts on using a broker to track down one of these?
I'm not in a huge hurry to land one, but I'm wondering, do I have a better chance of a) actually getting one without spending untold hours chasing it and b) getting a decent price?

my friend did me a solid favor, and called around.. took him 15 minutes to call 17 dealers, with one saying we can get you one in 2 weeks at msrp..
not that hard. you can also email them, but getting a solid answer from email can be sketchy. i emailed about a dozen dealers, i think 3 dealers told me it was sold, others didn't say anything about having it in stock or not.

10% of your time off-road is pretty significant. I don't have statistics to cite, but I'd love to learn what is the normal populace and their mean time they spend offroad. I'd bet 10% is high - after all, we drive on a lot of roads and highways even getting to some of the trails.
Anyways, the 4Runner will see 100% more off-road than any other vehicles in the garages out there. There are other vehicles that could better utilize on-road tires.
Take your on-road tires off-road while others take their off-road tires on-road... who will have the better time? :cheers:

touch up paint
anybody with the black toyota garnish can chime in here...but wondering about black touch up paint for the garnish. I had my valance wrapped with film so no worries there but when I tried to get the upper garnish wrapped, realized the TOYOTA letters don't adhere well to the film. So leaving the garnish unwrapped and exposed to chips, etc...

To each there own. 3rd T4R I've owned and this works for me. Some pretty serious trails and trail breaking, "No Problem Man".
Picked up a cement last week. Got it in Redwood City, about 350 miles from where I live. No one on the wait list and did not have to put a deposit down. Paid msrp. Great car so far except after 800 miles the rear passenger side shock has developed a leak. Local dealer has ordered one. Curious if any other TRDPs have had this issue.

I don't think it was stated in any changes, but I'm pretty sure it is softer. Thanks for checking, Forgot I work with someone who has a 15' and I can go check hers. I noticed it after driving about 10 miles and thought "hell yea," much nicer for longer drives.

Exactly. How do you want that 10% to go when you actually take it off-road? I actually bought a set of Michelins MS2's on my 4runner and did not have a good experience in the snow. I traded them in for the KO2's and have been extremely happy with the KO2's snow performance over the MS2's. In addition, I did not experience any loss of MPG when switching (both tires were the same size).
I agree 100%. Ive used KOs for 20+ years on my 4Runners. The ones on my 94 have almost 70k on them and will need replaced this winter. I will also replace the ones on the TRDP at the same time. I spend a lot of time in the cascades and a good tire in snow is essential. I haven't used a better all terrain tire. Not a lot of snow here in Portland but I'm in the mountains at least 2 weekends a month. Plenty of snow there (509" so far this winter, 20" last weekend while I was up there). And yes that's a snow bank in front of me, not a hill covered in snow!
