4th gen- For all who've done the FJ swap....

These numbers don't seem right to me. Are you sure you installed them on the correct sides? I see that your end result in wheel well to ground measurement is closer than starting, but a 3x difference in height gain seems way off.

The drivers side should have an extra wind of coil to compensate for extra weight on that side of the car.

+1, sounds like you need tto swap the two fronts, should even that right up.

Measured again in daylight - both fronts are 34", both rears are 35.75", and the color coding on the front struts' springs shows they are on the correct sides. I'll drive about 500 miles this weekend and measure again, but it looks fine. And I also was surprised about how the stock T4R measurements were not level - indicating that doing the swap was a good preventive thing to do.

FJ Lift

Just picked up my Runner, I was gonna try and attempt the lift myself, butthere were several key tools I didnt have that I needed, so my buddies Dad (who has a local garage) did it for me. Very pleased!!

V6
FJ coils and shocks
Front(2008 FJ coils and shocks)

Thanks for doing this data collection ARK_SWAMP_RIDER. I found it to be very handy information prior to doing my lift as follows:

2003 V6 SR5 4X4
2007 FJ springs and Tokico shocks
Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit

Average front lift with this combination: 3.25 inches
Average rear lift with this combination: 1.75 inches

Thanks for the numbers guys. I'll do my best to update the spreadsheet within the next week or two. I've been extremely busy lately but will make the update as soon as I can find time.

2006 Sports Edition V8 4WD

Bilstein 5100's Front and Rear. Fronts set at 1.75".
FJ Springs Front and Rear off of a 2009 FJC 4x4 with 900 miles on them.

Can't remember the measurements before the swap, but below are the ones after the install. Looks like the V8, the brush guard, and possibly the roof basket have made a difference.

Front Driver: 35 5/8
Front Passenger: 35 3/4
Rear Driver: 36 5/8
Rear Passenger: 36 7/8

2003 4runner 4x4 V8. FJ springs and Bilstein 5100s all the way around. The ride change is incredible. Much better than stock. I think my rear came out a little more than expected but it should settle a little. Front set at .85

Before
Front-33.5"
Rear-35.5"

After
Front-35"
Rear-36.5"

Thanks for posting that info. If all goes well I'll have this updated this week. I've not forgotten it, I've just been busier than usual lately.

I've got everyone added (updated first post). There were a couple I lacked info on, but I still marked what I had down. Feel free to post additions/corrections as needed. Thanks for the info guys!

Bummer! I didn't make the spreadsheet! ;-)

Hopefully, you just missed my info... I think it's on the second page... let me know if you need more info.

It's there, seventh up from the bottom in one of the grey rows.

That's weird... it doesn't show up on my iPhone, but when I look on my laptop it's there. Thanks for putting all of that together. It definitely helped me and I'm sure many more will benefit.

A great deal of thanks to A_S_R for referring me to fjcruiserforums where I found the FJC Coils and the support in this project.

I now have 8K miles with the new suspension and thought I would report in.

As I mentioned, I was fortunate to purchase the coils for under a $100, including freight, from FL. I used the March Madness deal at 4wheelparts.com to purchase the Bilstein 5100s online (not really, had to call them and tell them they didn't have the fronts listed - and they still extended the $20 buy online discount - great service here). With the alignment done at Les Schwab, I was into this project a whopping $510.

There is a substantial difference in the Coils. You'll realize this during the change process. Obviously taller, but larger in diameter and in the diameter of the spring material.

Total project took 4 hours. There were three of us and we had all the tools. It took a while to find a 2x4 to press the fronts in place. Used the 1.75 setting for the fronts.

When we were done, it looked like it had been wrecked. Even the rear was tipped to one side. Took it around the block and it literally levelled out. I then took it right away to Schwab.

Pros: Much firmer ride in comparison to the Xreas. No more top-heavy sway sensation as I had with the Xreas. I prefer the leveled look as well and the increased height.
Cons: My wife (5'2'') complains it it too high for her to get into with a dress.

I would certainly recommend this suspension modification with no hesitation. Well worth the time and effort in the research, finding the Coils and waiting for the Shocks (fronts were back ordered 45 days).

Still sporting the Dunlops for another month with 17" wheels, so the "settled" measurements are:

DF: 35-3/8"
DR: 36"
PF: 35-1/2"
PR: 36"

PM me with any questions. :bravo:

FJ springs

I just finished installing FJ front/rear springs on my 06 T4R. I went ahead and change the shocks out and put in the Bilstien 5100's also front and rear. When I pull the front assemblies I found the shocks were worn out so it was a good thing that I had already planned on replacing them. The ride seems nice up to about 70mph but beyond the I don't know.

Glad to help. Thanks for posting the info and your thoughts, I love getting feedback like that. I have the same setup (FJ springs and 5100's set at 1.75") and surprisingly, my 4'11" fiancee has yet to complain. My last truck had 6" lift and 35's, so I guess after crawling into that the 4runner is easy.

Rocmon2000, what setting on the 5100's did you use?

I forgot to add that I replaced the Sway Bar bushings as well with factory parts while the bar was off. I think they were < $20 from the dealer. The stock bushings were compressed and I was happy that I had them when we did the change.

Lets see some pics! Installing my FJ coils and Billie's this Friday.

ARK_SWAMP, here are my numbers before and after to add to your spreadsheet. I have a 2005 SR5 V8 w/ 95k miles. The FJC coils I got were froma 2007 4x4 w/ 40k miles on them:

before:
front pass: 33.5"
front driver: 33.25"
rear pass: 35.5"
rear driver: 35.5"

after:
front pass: 35.25"
front driver: 35.25"
rear pass: 35.75"
rear driver: 35.75"

I think it looks 100% better and of course it handles better and feels so nice on the road. Thanks to all for the great info on this swap. :guitar3:
Before and after pics (I'll try and get better pics when the weather is nicer):
