nice job... i would use some thing better then super glue to hold the lens. use some kind of L bracket or drill a hole through the center and a bolt, stopper then nut.

Yeah, I searched Home Depot for some sort of bracket I could use, even looked at framing straps, but couldn't come up with anything that I could Jerry-rig into place with the light. I'm going to keep an eye on the super glue, and see how it holds up. I'm actually thinking the plastic will break before the glue fails. But we'll see.

No offense to you solution, it certainly looks like it turned out well, but it seems like more work than other alternatives at about the same (albeit, quite low) cost.

Those are pretty cool looking, but I hadn't found anything like that before starting. I might have used those, but I'm not very electrically proficient and didn't want to mess anything up. I wanted to keep with the OEM bulb base as well. Also, I wanted to stay with cheap replacable parts, so when something gets smashed or broken it can easily be fixed.

Update: After some decent driving on forest roads, the lights are still working great. I didn't take on any crazy terrain, but there were some ruts and rocks. I figured I'd find the bolts or plastic a little loose, but all is still tight and holding up very well.

Looks good! I like the ingenuity of the mod. I am interested in how it holds up over the winter (if we get one this year), especially if you take it to Tahoe in the snow or ever hit the mud (Prairie City can be fun with the right amount of rain ).

Looks like he just used the wires that were there from his lit running boards.

However, does anyone know if the models that did not come with running board lights still have the wiring in place for them?

I'd light to add lights after I remove my boards, but I don't know if that cabling is hanging around somewhere or not.

That's what I was getting at as well. I have a 06 sport and don't recall and harnesses in that area.

I just used the wires the were going to the running board lights. I cut and spliced to the new wires/sockets.

[MENTION=96444]Rdf5186[/MENTION], I did some more reading and it turns out ours wont have the cabling in place. But what we do have is a hole with a rubber plug where some cable can be installed and ran into the original location under the door.

I checked my truck over the weekend and saw 3 different rubber plugs along the edge on the passenger side, not sure what might go where or maybe they all just poke though to the cable space at the doors.

Great that's good to know. I started looking around mine as well while I was removing the skid plates. What a mess that was. Salt belt and rust!! Ugh

First off, here's the light sockets I bought from eBay. I searched for "194 LED sockets" to find them. They came from China, so it took a few weeks.

Did anyone with non-lit running boards figure out a good way to run these? I am looking to wire them to turn on with accessory lights such as when the unlock button is it. I believe the factory running boards lights did this. I would also like to wire separately to turn on when I want them on.
