Suspension question

Are the Blistein 5100's the same for the 4Runner and FJ. Got a guy who selling front and rear FJ springs and front and rear 5100's. Good to go for direct swap? I know the springs will work. Just wanna confirm the 5100's will work

Yes, they are the same.

When I got my 4th gen it had 265/65/17 on sport rims and ran like that on stock height suspension for a few years. The difference in size from these options are minimal...maybe 1/2" or so in height. Okay, I finished my install a little bit ago. I'm not 100% sure I'm okay with how the UCA is now. What do you guys think? I am okay going the wheel spacer route if you think that is a good option. Or I will take them out and drop down to the .85" setting if need be.

OME vs fj coils

I promise I've done a bunch of reading, but I'd like some reassurance. The shop that will be installing my lift says they use arb springs. I'm assuming these are OME..... What difference would OME provide vs using stock fj springs? Both in terms of ride and lift. Thanks in advance.

Just checked Bilstein's website and yes, they are the same part number for the 07-09 FJ and the 03-09 4Runner. Both front and rear match.

Hi there bud! OME springs are a lift coil spring. The FJ springs you mentioned are stock (for the fj) so you will not be as high as far as lift goes if you choose the fj coils over the ome. A lot depends on your vehicle as well. If you have a v8 the recommend the 885 OME spring for the front. I installed the 885 ome springs with bilstein 5100 struts on my 04 v6 runner and I like it a lot. There is a whole thread on the fj springs in here too. Go check it out when you have time.

If you want a lifted vehicle and your choices are fj coils or ome coils...i'd recommend the ome. If ride height is not "completely" what your after and want a mild lift the fj coils is a fine choice as well. Id say ome will get you a 3 inch lift height gain....fj 1 inch lift height gain is pretty close to what your looking at...however I'm not an expert just speaking from my own experience with the ome springs and info ive looked at in this forum.

if this sounds dumb... [i is]; the bulk of this FAQ seems to be regarding LIFT, springs, strut/shock etc. I'm ok with stock height as-is for the moment on my 2007 2wd SR5. I'd like to ditch the OEM Toyota shocks front & rear. So - lots of chatter about Bilstein 5100's, all I need is the exact sub-model reco as of this point in time August 2016. What I pulled up in sheer ignorance is:
- Front: Part 24-239370
- Rear: Part 33-187174
Total cost delivered would be around $400, not that price is primary concern.

ar those the right part numbers for this job? I will have a lot of "bad road" 2-lane driving and occasional off-pavement. not pulling trailer, not heavily loaded.

Yup, those are the right parts. They're $350 at DownSouthMotorsports. That's where I bought mine.

Starting my build

So I just got my first 4Runner about 3 weeks ago. First thing I am looking at doing lift wise is the Toytec 3/2 spacers and springs with bilstein 5100s all around. Would it be worth it to just go with new springs in the front as well for the extra $200? This is going to be for a DD with occasional beach riding, and some light trails/off-road camping. Also I'd like to go with a 275/70 or ~32x11.5 does anyone have firsthand experience with this setup working? Am I going to need any drop brackets or UCAs right off the bat? All help and guidance appreciated! :yo:
