What kind of grease was used?

The only calipers I've used that do not fail and/or seize , aside from OEM, are NEW Raybestos. They have been great and after two years haven't even rusted in Northeast salt hell. About $100 each

So good quality fluid... Toyota? I have a can of old German performance fluid (don't recall the type) came in blue and red. Made changing fluid easy. Been awhile since i researched brake fluids, i'm sure there have been many changes over the past 5-6 year's.

No Brembo calipers... Sad panda.

you're probably thinking of ATE. Actually what I use. I wish I could still get my hands on the blue stuff. Made bleeding easy. Blue one time, gold the next. Was pretty much essential back when I was doing track days and had to change it a few times a year.

Not sure why i still have this laying around, doubt its any good.

I replaced my original driver's side at 89,240 on 12/30/16, then again today at 151,145. Passenger side is still original.

I've had similar experiences with my Tacoma and the front calipers. My first set seized after my truck sat in a parking lot for 6 months waiting on a frame to be replaced. It was frustrating as there was nothing wrong with the brakes before that and the dealer didn't exactly pony up to cover the cost. In any event, I had to install a 2nd set after they froze again( 5 years later) on the way home from the movies. The front drivers side was literally smoking on the way home. I had to pull over and let it cool only 1 mile from home in the pouring rain. I had the local shop use the cheap Chinese replacement parts as the OEM is about twice the cost. Good times!
It is a bit unfortunate that this continues to be an issue all these years later across both platforms.

If it's never been open it's good. I worked at a German mail order parts supplier for almost 20 years. I used LOTS of that stuff. It was pretty dangerous having almost any part you might desire for your BMW a floor down though.
