HI everyone I would like to make a build thread for my 2002 sport sr5 4wd.


the day I got the 3rd gen December 2017. 106k miles


how it looked during the day


then installed a B&M trans cooler


installed LED cluster lights.



Couple weeks ago I went to go get some tires installed on my trail wheels. 285/70/17 toyo AT#



When I got the 4runner back in December 2017 I slowly gathered some parts for my lift. it was a hard decision on what to go with because of so many options.


this is the rear from middle of hub to fender before I started lifting it.


then I decided to start on the rear lift this past weekend.


Stock coils vs OME 861


Installed driver side with OEM isolators in the springs.


comparing stock shock with new FJ cruiser 5100 shocks.



After I dropped the jack I was shocked to see the lift height on these OME 861 coils.



6 inch of rear lift from these OME 861 coils with Oem isolators.


that face down ass up action!!!


then started to do the fronts the following morning

Crazy height with those OME 861 coils and 5100's! That B&M trans cooler is a must! I hate mixed fluids! Top notch parts all around! Can't wait to see the final product!

Since you're in Hawaii aren't you supposed to put on a huge lift and leave the stock size tires on there? :D

Love the color and looks like your build is off to a great start!

haha foreals. its a lot but I want a lot of flex when I go offroad. haha yeah first thing I read was the trans cooler and its a must haha. plus made it wasier for my friend when he did the timing belt and water pump.

thanks yups low miles since its in Hawaii. used to be my uncles 4runner then gave it to my cousin. Since my uncle passed my cousin gave it to me free. I always bugged my uncle to sell me the 4runner. I'll cherish this 4runner and keep it and will never sell it because it means a lot to me.

haha I aint about that huge lift and stock tire size life lols.

thanks. love to color too. hopefully everything will look good once its done.
 
Installed my wheelers diff drop today



And got into a little bit of a snag. As I was rechecking my torque specs on my lower ball joint on my driver side I felt one get really loose and thought that it was stripped. Kept on tightening it and snap.

oh wow! that's a great story, yeah, you can't sell this.
 
Ended up getting some new hardware for the lower ball joint.



Hopefully the threads not stripped and can extract the broken stud out.
 
Ended up extracting the broken stud by hand when I got home from work.




Also finished my lift and now waiting for my SS panhardbar.
 
Oh baby!! I would have clicked on this earlier if the thread was titled "My Sunfire Red Pearl"! ❤️ I like that color a whole lot.
Wait, so one snapped, but another one stripped? We're those two different holes? I guess if the new bolts torqued to 60ft lbs without the threads giving way, you should be good. Most guys loctite them. The factory didn't. I don't. Fight me.
I'm surprised you went with the 861s! You plan on lots of additional rear weight? The taller height won't give you more flex. In fact, without a bunch of additional weight, you won't be able to compress the coils like you would a lower spring rate coil. The droop is going to be the same whether your cool is long or short, so the only thing the coil affects is your compression, and the 861 will likely hinder flex without a bunch of added weight. You feel me?

haha I didn't know what to put for the title haha. just one bolt snapped. none of them stripped which I was grateful for. I think my torque wrench might be giving the wrong torque specs. I ended up buying a new one to retorque everything.

I kinda like how the 861 lift looks on how some of the build threads I've seen. I plan to add a storage box in the back and also a rear metal bumper with tire swingout in the near future. I also have a awning that I want to put on and maybe a roof top tent with a a rocky mountain rack.
 
Well I got confirmation on my SS adjustable panhardbar has been shipped out and I should probably be receiving it by this weekend. I'll see if I can get it installed and aligned the same day.

really want to mount my wheels already
 
looks great so far! those wheels and tires are going to look awesome. maybe i missed it, but why are you waiting to mount them up?

I'm waiting on my adjustable panhardbar to arrive and gonna get an alignment before I mount the wheels and tires. I might also plan on putting my 1" body lift before it goes on just in case it doesn't clear the 285/70/17 tires.

Ended up getting my Sonoran steel adjustable panhardbar on Friday and installed it same night




This past weekend I decided to do my tundra brake upgrade.

Old brake and rotors









And today I ended up getting my alignment
