95 3.slow exhaust upgrade/replacement?

OK, here's the deal... don't go over 2.25 inch exhuast... it just seems to dog it out. to little back pressure... The Flowmaster cat is the way to go... The flowmaster delta 50 2.25 in/2.5 out. The tail pipe is mandrel bent at 2.5 or even 3 inch is fine... the K&N drop in is fine for flow... Sounds like a V8, and has a nice growl to it.. Also will jump you to what feels like 200HP... probably about 180-190. I'm sure I'll be getting a couple extra MPG maybe 3-5 as well. The delta 40 is way to loud... These are my recommendations... I found out the hard way... an extra $100... Don't do what I did. Do it right the first time...
 
I'm thinking about trying this my self. Sounds like a pretty good deal. What would you say your current set up cost had the initial screw up not occurred?

I paid $373.27 Tax and all... At Bill's Muffler In El Dorado AR. Not sure where you are Red in AR but If you live close enough Bill will take care of you in record time also. I dropped the truck at 8 am and bill was done by 9 am... Great guy, and the welds look like rolls of Dimes (Just really small dimes). The one thing is if you Are going to get Bill, call and schedule. That way he can get the Muffler and cat ordered from Flowmaster... He a little gruf but the price is sweet, and the work is even better. If you are close to El Dorado, then I recommend Bill. However, I'm sure there is a Bill type shop in your area... But I can't recommend them becouse I never used them.. Anyway... I can give you the specs.. I forgot to add the $37.98 for the K&N on ebay... I don't remember the seller's name... But you can get them at O'rielly's for about $49..

I'm sure you all have atleast several of these type muffler places up there... Maybe even better prices being that the competition for business is greater.

Anyway, I recommend the 2.25 inch pipe, flow master cat, and flowmaster 50 series delta muffler... Tail pipe can go bigger to make it look like a big diesel truck, improved airflow, and the lowering of the sound makes it sound even cooler... The tail pipe really has no effect on performance, just sound really... The smaller the pipe the higher pitched the sound gets, the bigger the lower.
There you go... If I had knew a little more about what I should have done, or reseached it more... I would have not had to spend the extra $100. So now you do not have to...
 
thanks for all the info...sounds like u did exactly what i wanna do...i am an 18 year old...i am definately goin with a loud system...but plannin on havin my own pipes bent..supposedly it is cheaper...but i have a 94...do u think this would work on it as well?...same setup?...from what u said...in order to get a louder sound with the same setup as u...without losin back pressure...i should go with a large tip...correct?...

Yes, should work exactly for a 94. I would go just like this... 2.25 inch all the way from the y-pipe back to the muffler. The tailpipe only effects sound... Smaller = higher pitch, larger = lower pitch. The guy at flowmaster actually told me that the stock cat is probably the best cat you can get for the job... So if you are having cat trouble try to get a stock.... If you can't call flowmaster.... Then get the flowmaster 50 delta series muff... again the tail pipe (unless smaller than stock 2.0 inch) will have no effect on the back pressure, in theory... The K&N high flow drop will give just as much flow as the k&N full intake kit, according to the guy at flowmaster... It's less costly, keeps your truck stock looking, and easy to install.... When you have the pipes bent make sure they are mandrel bent so they do not have a bunch of ridges along the corners... they will greatly effect back pressure, and negate what you are trying to accomplish... Horse power upgrade... The smooth bend will let the exhaust flow un-inhibited... and will have very little to do with sound... Most small "Mom & Pop" type muff shops can do the pipes for less money...Yes, I spent the extra cash so you don't have to... Hope it helps...

Exhaust manifolds are bone stock.... It's stock to the end of the y-pipe... It's rusty right up to the end of the "y"... OK not like rust through, it's just surface rust... If you call Flow master they will tell you to keep your stock cat. atleast the one I called did, but it was to late...
