Good story on beating the Bronco. Ya know I grew up around big full size trucks with big mud tires. Always wanted them when I grew up. Well I grew up and eventually got myself into some Jeep TJs and XJ, and wow even with smaller tires and ATs can go places full sizes of the past I could not, with ease. And mudding isnt all that bad in a smaller truck unless its big bogs and super deep.

I have not had my 4runner wheeling yet, but imagine with the 2.5" of lift or so and rear locker, it will be dangerous. I know with a Jeep TJ with front and rear lockers, 4.88 gears, and 285s I can go all kinds of places bigger Jeeps and trucks do on the trails.

I forget the tire size I have right now on 4runner, its 17" Tundra rims and 265/70 maybe? they look about 31-32" and narrow. Wondering what size rubber I could stuff in there next haha....yours look sweet

Looks like you're doing a great job, but what a horror story. I work for an automotive publishing company and know a LOT of guys who've had similar stories.

I know there are some good people in the Northeast, but I would NEVER trust buying an older car or truck that had spent any years in Pennsy, New York, Illinois, or pretty much any state up north - I know way too many guys who've bought "clean" cars or trucks that turned out to be complete rust buckets that had been doctored over.

I'm a big advocate of buying that Carfax report, if the vehicle was ever registered up north, that's an automatic "don't buy" for me.

All that being said, you're a much more patient man than I am, and that 'Runner is fortunate to have been purchased by you. It's looking fantastic and has a new lease on life. Enjoy and keep us updated. :thumb:
