4wd becomes shift on the fly for anyone doing this in a V8. the V6 guys will have to stop and flip a switch to let the front axle engage. then shift the lever.
To be honest, I don't quite think there's enough room to allow the J shift pattern of the single shifter to work in the 4runner center console area, without modifying some plastic trim pieces anyway. It wouldn't be a clean look IMO.
Awesome post! You didn't waste anytime doing this mod. Is there no way to keep the rear AC duct?
Sweet build!
why would the v6 not be the same as the v8 with this setup?
Oh, I pulled my front driveshaft last spring to replace a u-joint and drive in 2wd for a week. Even with stock gears and 35's I could burn the tires world even trying. Was a wild ride! Lol

Did it not set any codes?

Kinda what I was thinking.
Awd down here is almost useless. We see snow once every year or two and usually a couple of inches at most. I'm liking this idea. So if you go with an early model tcase you'd need the tcase, levers, the spring and tcase gasket, then some wiring modification?
What else?

The fj shifters on the front range site didn't appear to be offset like yours.

Cool
Do you have to lose the park brake?
