So on my new 4runner, I noticed a noise that happens only once, after the vehicle is turned on, shifted to drive and driven a few feet. It's a very similar sound to when a turn signal clicks off and it appears to come from the vicinity of the dash/steering wheel area. Doesn't do it in reverse but, it's very repeatable with those specific steps. I looked through some of the other clicking threads and the closest I found was a "noisy left turn indicator." Could that be the same thing? The click only happens once, does not appear to be related to turning direction of steering wheel.

I think it's the brake switch? Mine does it also right after it's started and put in gear seconds after I start moving. Might be normal. Figured there would be a light on if not.

I can say with all certainty that I know the difference between the sound of 'doors locking' and a different type of clicking sound, at least with my setup. I would find it hard to believe that anyone could not identify a door locking sound. Almost insulting! 
Yeh that is pretty much the exact scenario with mine too. I was just wondering if it was a "normal" sound or I needed to go bother a service person at the local dealership

Yeah, unless some of the veterans chime in here saying otherwise I'm going to say it's probably normal. It doesn't sound like an alarming sound but it can make one curious as to what it is. My sound is coming from the accelerator/brake pedal area.

Yeh I looked through the manual. This is about the closest thing I could find that applied but, I wouldn't say the noise I'm talking about comes from the engine compartment. Definitely an interior noise of some sort.
"A sound may be heard from the engine compartment when the engine is
started or just after the vehicle begins to move. This sound does not indicate
that a malfunction has occurred in any of these systems."

I get a clunk heard and felt through the shifter/ center console after shifting to park and releasing brake. Especially if on uneven ground. Really annoying

Are you using your parking brake? I'm going to guess you're not and that sound is the car rolling against a "parked" transmission.

That's what I thought, but it does this 9 times out of 10 on flat ground. Will mention it at my first oil change, only at 3000km on the odo.

Are you sure it's perfectly flat? I know mine does it even on places which seem flat (but obviously slope just enough...). Also, to test the theory, do you get the same feeling/sensation if you do apply the parking brake? I know I still get a small click as the brakes are loaded but nothing like I would if the car was rolling onto a parked transmission

I notice mine mostly when starting up when on an incline (which describes my driveway perfectly). I can't say I've noticed it when on flat ground.

When I shift to park and let off the brake I can hear and feel the gear shift click. I only use the parking brake when parking on slopes. It makes the sound almost every time regardless of parking brake. Is this something to be concerned about?

I mean I get a click when the vehicle rests against park when parked on an incline if that's what you mean?
I did some testing today and the ABS check sound happens more immediate when parked on an incline but you still get it when parked flat...it's just not AS prompt and immediate as when on an incline. At least for me.
