Thought that looked like Stampede. Ive photographed my truck by the powerlines too. Glad you found some place to explore, theres miles of roads up there, just didnt know what the snow would be like.

Yeah, the snow wasn't too bad... Just too slick for my wife to be comfortable. (we wrecked my 87 4Runner on ice, so she doesn't like sliding) I forget what it's called, but off the main road to Stampede where it forks to Tacoma? Pass or Stampede Pass we went toward Stampede and hit a lot of snow about 500 yards up.

So we went and messed around by the powerlines, then ended up by that tunnel somehow.

It was good day, all in all. Tested out/familiarized myself with the new TJM Air Compressor and ARB Quick Deflator.

I am meeting with an advisor to schedule my summer classes on Thursday. After that I should be good to lock in dates for the WABDR. Hopefully we can sync up on that.

wabdr.... I want in on that... Depending on if I get deployed or not and what time of year it is -later in the summer is better for me. Your runner is so sexy BTW I'm jelly of your low mileage and fresh clean look

Well, GSPRunner and I are shooting for the weekend of the 28th. I want to make a 3-4 day thing out of it, but if that doesn't sync up with my break from school, I'll probably just do a section of it over a weekend. I would most likely be willing to do it later in the summer as well. Again, school permitting.

Hepar I think if you continue at your current rate you'll pass me in miles in a few years. Going to be driving mine a lotttt less now.

No long travel for me... Extended will have to do :-)

Why is that? And keep in mind that I work from home. Although I do drive to the coast a lot...

Been wanting to make this trip for awhile now so hopefully we can make it happen. The weekend of June 28th would be fine for me, but later in the summer would probably work too, so we can maybe coordinate with Isaac to see if he can make it.

Because my 86 pickup gets exactly twice the city mpg as my 4runner... And it only has 158k... :-)

Dang. Maybe I need to get one of those. My other ride gets about half the mpg's as my Runner.

Keep me in the loop. Would love to join you guys. Later in the summer is better for me. My weekends are f'd all the way through June and the beginning of July.

You should post some pictures of the Chevrolet. That one your buddy tagged you in was the first one I have seen... Looks nice.

Also, you'll be kept informed. I imagine that to an extent, the more the merrier.

Now that my wife and I both have real human work/school schedules I am pretty much free every weekend...

After 30 minutes of searching T4R, I found the linc. None of the chevrolet. 20 minutes on your facebook and I have 2 pictures.

What year is it? Early 50's?

Icons Installed

So Saturday I headed up to a friends shop to see about getting the Light Racing UCA's, Icon Coilvovers, and Icon Rear Shocks installed.

Arriving at the shop...

All in all it went pretty well. I stupidly forgot to grab an UBJ press, so I had to stop after removing the coilovers and wait for a friend to arrive with the press, and food.

Photo showing the impressive difference in size...

Once the UBJ press and my much more mechanically knowledgable friend arrived, things went pretty smoothly. Even with the press it was a bit of a PITA, but managable.

Once the front was done, we moved on to the dreaded rear shocks...

We were only able to rotate the bolt about 2 degrees it seemed, so once the bolt was broken, we just held the wrench stationary and used our hands to ratchet the shock... Worked pretty well, really.

Here's another comparison shot... The Bilstein look feeble next to these things...

As per usual, I didn't take enough pictures throughout the process...

The ride home wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Setting the LR UCA's to the specified settings in the instructions seemed to have worked well enough.

This morning I took it into Firestone and had it aligned, and tomorrow I am going to head out HWY 2 to do some testing...

More pictures/a small report to follow.

Just did the same rear shock swap (Billies for Icons) on my rig. Interested to hear what you think of them. My truck is undergoing major surgery, so I probably won't get too rowdy with them for a couple of weeks, but should be driving in a couple of days.

Testing Day

blah blah Interested to hear what you think of them. blah blah blah

Hope this answers your question...

So today I was able to get out with a good friend, his girly friend, and my wife/dogter to test out the new setup.

Initially I was not too impressed, then I looked at my speedometer and realized I was going twice as fast as I was able to before the Icons. And I hadn't aired down. HUGE difference. On the road, they may be a little more stiff (noticably better cornering, ZERO nose dive with hard braking, but a LITTLE more of a jar over larger bumps), but once off the road and blasting over the rough stuff, it's like making love for the first time. Or something.

Anyway, here are some photos. Mild day, but fun nonetheless.

Not much of a story... =(

On our way down we came around a corner and saw that older gentleman trying to put pieces of wood under the tires like he was going to back out of that ditch. As always, pictures don't do it justice. That's at the end of the pulling out, he was actually very close to tipping over, completely inside of the 6' deep ditch.

He claims he was backing out from a closed gate (not pictured, I was parked in front of it) when his daughter called him. He picked up the phone, took his eyes off the road, and that's where he ended up. I have a theory that he was flying around that corner, hit the series of potholes on the other side of my friends truck, and launched himself into the ditch. We'll never know.

Once he was pulled out, he continued on his way after a very awkward fist bump.

Location of the Subaru was here... 47.790491, -121.658982

Location of the water crossing was here... 47.782317, -121.631699

I wouldn't recommend making a trip up just for this place. That was really the only remotely exciting part =)
