Oh, I guess they call it the "IDBDR" not the "IBDR"... It's the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route. Last year GSPRunner and I did the Washington version "WABDR".

Here's a pretty cool link to the website with details of the route. You can find the WABDR there too. Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route (IDBDR)

My ideal route would be to take I-5 North into Canada, hop onto BC-1 East to Hope, and then BC-3 all the way into Creston where I'd start the route from the NORTH end.

Follow the route all the way south to Jarbridge, Nevada.

From Jarbridge take US-93 up to I-84 and follow that alllll the way up to I-82 near Hermiston, OR. Take I-82 up to I-90 near Ellensburg and head west on I-90 back to Seattle.

Google says the total distance is 2501 miles.

So without further rambling...

Shit yes. I grew up an hour from Creston. If your up this way, give me a holler and I woudl highly recommend the slight detour on HWY 3 from Creston East to Crowsnest Pass.

that looks FU**IN SWEET! i need to pay more attention to events on here i guess.... i'd love to make the 4runner presence known on that trip!
I doubt there will be an event posted... Too much attention can simply be too much =)

If you're truly interested I could keep you informed on our plans as they come about.

How was fry's/Lowes? I swung around but you disappeared.
Haha I was going to Fry's... I parked behind the largest Dodge Ram I have ever seen... Saw you go by. Those pictures of your recent work don't do it justice man... Your 4Runner looks incredible. That color is matching you've done is how they should all be.

We'll be doing it for sure... Just not 100% positive on which week it'll be. I'll look up Crowsnest. Thanks =)

GSPRunner and yourself are going to be just so dang cute together with your matching RTT's.

+1 on Crowsnest. After looking at Rickashay and Intruders pics I think that is a must do for us.

Just gunna put this here. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/116034-**rickashays-wheeling-pics-thread**.html

If you dont come in August (I'll be in Nelson BC then, an hour from Creston getting hitched!) let me know and I'd probably be able to meet you and show you around. Give you the grand tour as they say! haha

Swaybar End-Links

I got this idea in my head the other day that I wanted to finally address my swaybar end-links. I had been hesitant for a couple of reasons- Price, and the thought that it wouldn't make that big of a difference.

But anyway, I decided to do some research here on the forum and found a great write-up that would give me a set of longer end-links for about $35... At this point any mod under $500 is worth checking out, in my opinion.

Here's the write-up I used... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/97769-built-new-swaybar-endlinks-my-runner.html.. The only thing I did different was that I followed some advice I saw (I think from MStudt) that said not to use bushings on either end of the swaybar. I checked out his that he sells and it looked like he just had a nut on either side (not really the case, but close enough... I think), so I followed suit.

Here's a link to the links... :playball: Amazon.com: Energy Suspension 9.8149G End Link Set: Automotive

Outcome: Freaking awesome. I was previously using my front links that are probably original and I thought they were fine... I was wrong. The difference in handling was SO drastic that I had my wife take it for a drive to make sure I wasn't losing my mind.

Comparison shot... OEM 3rd Gen FRONT link vs The new ones. The new ones are almost EXACTLY 1/2" longer than the 3rd gen FRONT links from mounting point to mounting point, not overall. I don't know/care what the difference was overall =)

Did you have to use a metal sleeve between the two nuts on the swaybar?? If so, where did you pick it up?? Size?? Awesome rig btw!

Replaced my TPS last night... Threw a P0120 and started running weird... Seems to be better.

Not 100% sure we're on the same page here...

From what I THINK you're asking...

I don't think you'd HAVE to use the metal sleeve, but I did. Really all it does is makes the hole in the swaybar smaller so the bolt won't move around as much as if you HADN'T put the sleeve in.

As I said before... :fish: I got the sleeve at Lowes. 3/8"(Inside Diameter)x 1/2"(Diameter)x 1-1/2"(Length) They were in the hardware aisle next to the grade 8 bolts.

I used a grinder to chop the spacers and the bolts down to size... Probably better/safer ways to do it... Like a band saw or hack saw, perhaps. I don't have that fancy stuff.

Haha. That's basically what I was asking. Sorry for the poor description. One more question. I have read u have to drill out the sway to slide the metal sleeve in place. That true for you?

Nope.

I used the eye bolt to "press" it into the bar... Didn't drill anything.

Basically I..
Put a nut onto the eye bolt
Slid the cut-off portion of the sleeve onto the eye bolt
Put the eyebolt through the sway bar
Tightened another nut down on the other side of the sway bar

So as I tightened the nut on the opposite side of the bar it squeezed the sleeve into the sway bar.

That may not make ANY sense... I apologize if that's the case.

Extended Brake Lines & Superbumps

Just finished up installing my extended rear brake line and front "Super bump" bump stops from Wheeler's Offroad.

I honestly didn't notice any difference in the feel of the pedal, but I feel better knowing that my brake line is no longer acting as my limiting strap =).

As far as the bumpstops go... I only was able to install the driver's side. My passenger side bumpstop was really hard to get out... and once it started spinning it apparently broke the welds on the nut inside the LCA. Using upward pressure on the bottom of the bumpstop I was able to get it out, but there are no longer any threads... Looking into rivet nuts to fix this issue.

I took a trip down to Bend, OR this weekend to see some family and pick up my CVT Mt. Cayley RTT! Pretty awesome... Just a quick shot after getting it installed. More to come.

Tent setup

I set the tent up to install the anti-condensation mat and just kinda get a feel for how all the windows work, etc. Also had to re-mount the ladder as I had installed it incorrectly.

CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT AND USE THIS THING!!
