Nice... It looks like you are putting it to good use. So is your tire mounted standing up on the driver's side cargo?

If you were building another 3rd gen, would you still do a similar swing away for your spare? I am about to go down that road after humping up for 285s.

I couldn't imagine mounting a 33" spare or any spare for that matter in the back of a 3rd gen. You'd loose so much already valuable cargo space.

Hey Alex, I got a question for you. I have been trying to decide on powder coating my rear 4X Innovations rear swing out bumper or perhaps just painting it. I saw somewhere that you said that you just used spray paint instead of powder coating the front and rear. But then when I started to try to go through your thread, you mentioned that you had someone paint it. Could you tell me what you did or who you used to paint the bumper?

Powdercoat all day on bumpers. It holds up so much better than paint. BFAD posted recently saying he wished he had powder coated his bumper instead of painting it just for longevity of the coating.

My front bumper has been powdercoated and on for 30k+ miles. It has like 2 chips on it from stones. Everything else didn't damage it, bugs wash right off. There's no way spray paint would have held up as well. Look for an industrial powder coater near you. I use the same guy the city uses for all their benches and what not and he works in me in with their semi gloss black batches as they come through. It's dirt cheap for what I'm getting. I paid $140 to have the rear bumper done.

Ouch. I paid $100 for my front bumper, $100 for my rack, $120 for my skids, and $40 for my sliders. You can see why I'd rather just take it to him, have it done perfectly in powder coat rather than buy a couple cans of primer, a few cans of paint, and several hours messing with painting them. Especially in hot and humid Alabama where there's a 95% chance my paint job comes out miserable because it's too humid for the paint to adhere and cure properly.

The first place I asked wanted $300 to do my sliders so I'd definitely say shop around.

He does a great job too. Plugs all the threaded holes, does all the little brackets and stuff that comes with them, tapes off anything I ask him too. They really wanted to help me install the rack right then and there when I picked it up, but I wanted to put a coat of wax on the roof first. They're just a couple of super friendly southern guys. One of the few family owned straight forward businesses left.

Cool. Thanks for the info! I will give Thermotech a call tomorrow. Going to see if Adam at 4X Innovations has any files that would assist in getting some quotes.

I have also been looking at their suggested POR-15 paint application. Looks like you hit it with POR-15, then finish with a desired rattle can to protect the POR-15 from UV rays, where it would break down unless painted over.
