also, that v6 4speed has the rare gear ratios for 4th gens if i remember right as well. 3.93 or something? i have them
4 speed life (actually i remeber wondering if id notice it lacking for gears, and it has been great in terms of power)also, someone setup some IQ tests in here and lets hash this out properly. jp. im with the OG in here giving it to capncrunch, but capn is still kicking, late in the 8th rd

Ok... I'm getting ready to change fluid in my 05 V8 SR5 and about 140k miles on the clock. I believe it has the 5 speed auto (I will check the sticker).
Based off of this thread I need to look for Toyota specific IV-WS-MGA ATF?? Is this correct???
My next problem. Since the trans fluid flush/exchange has never been done before. After I put in the new fluid my trans friction discs are going to burn up and I will need a new trans???
I am just trying to get all the information correct.
:jk: Just kidding. I will be going to Toyota after work and give them my vin so the give me the correct fluid. I believe it will be the WS. I will also update if my trans burns up...

yes. i have a 2004 with the 4speed, and the more rare gear ratio compared to all the other 4th gens i believe (4spd v6)

If you have not done an atf exchange, is not that bad. Time consuming but not hard at all.
I used the at cooling line method and it helps to have a second person, for peace of mind more than anything else.
I do remember reading about the gear ratios. It only makes sense that the final ratio would be different for the 5sp vs 4sp.

good point lol isnt it a more preferred ratio for wheeling or does the 4spd negate that? its a higher ratio i think?
4sp is 3.909
5sp is 3.727
Cant speak to preferred wheeling ratios. Most I do is some fire roads or driving in a field somewhere to go camping.
There are a couple of off road “parks” near me that I would like to go play at.
