I'm the proud owner of a 2011 4Runner Trail Edition (w/ Nav, KDSS, Kitchen sink, etc...) I picked up about 3 weeks ago, and have really enjoyed it so far.
That being said, I seem to have a problem with the Accessory Meter, that I thought I'd ask folks here about.
The Accessory Meter, in case you have no idea what I'm talking about is Toyota's official term for what I would call an information display-- you know the one that shows the direction, time, temp, etcetera. I had no clue what the real term was until seeing it in the owners manual.
Anwyay, on 3 occasions, that I've noticed, the Accessory Meter just seems to hang--- no direction update (ie- N, S, E, W), no time updates, no scrolling through Range/MPG, etcetera.
I did find that I can get to the brightness adjusting mode when holding down the Set/Mode button (I forget which), but even then, the display doesn't show I'm in that mode-- it's just that continuing to press buttons will dim or brighten the "frozen" display.
In each of the 3 instances, I noticed the "hang" within a minute or 2 of starting the car, but I am not sure if it was hung from the start, or if it had worked for a few seconds when first starting, only to then hang moments later.
So far, the only way I've found to get the Accessory Meter functioning again has been to restart the car--- I've tried turning off the stereo (not that I'd expect that to have worked, but was desperate), and have tried assorted button pushes of the odometer/trip reset button (which incidentally does continue working when the Accessory Meter gets stuck).
I know that I can get the dealer to take a look at this, but since it's been very sporadic, I'd rather not have to go that route unless I have to-- I'd hate to take the time for them only to find no problems at all.
I'm hoping there is just some simple connector somewhere that isn't quite pushed in all the way or something, so if anyone can point the way to the pesky plug, I'd really appreciate it!
