my stocks headlights are leaking/condensation so was thinking about replacing them with these, they simple looking 06-09 Toyota 4Runner Replacement Projector Headlights - Black Smoked

I think I got the same set, but on Amazon. They look really good! I haven't been hassled by "the man" because of the smoked lens yet, so time will tell.

wait a minute, is that a concern that the police may ticket you for the dark headlights???
It depends on the laws of the state you live in. Cangler who posted the original comment lives in California and they do not allow any modifications. People there can even be ticketed for having clear covers over their headlights. CA is the absolute worst state for vehicle modding.

I don't know about that. I've seen some vehicle laws back east that really make me cringe. The one thing nice about NM is the vehicle laws, when it comes to mods, are very relaxed and nobody really enforces what laws that are in place. Plus, there's no inspections or smog tests to pass (except in Bernalillo county). Mod away my friends.
The bad thing about this is, there's quite a few vehicles on the road that probably shouldn't be on the road at all.

Has anyone tried the DT Motorsports ones on eBay recently? Was thinking maybe there was just a bad batch and they've worked out the issue by now? Just ordered them figured they're worth a shot for the price

My iPhone 7 camera can't focus enough on the lights (nice, apple) but I like to go with the original 6500k look, no colors for me. So far I love them , bulbs are also in 6500k xenon

Ditto, I have an '05 non-projector. Seems like most problems are with '06+ projectors and was willing to gamble $90 to save $300 on OEM's. I'm going to hit them with 303 protectant and check the seals first, add a bead of silicone maybe.
Here are my '05 originals, pics don't do justice to how bad they were. I guess they can only take so many "restorations." They really stuck out after a good detail, almost bought OEM's but cheaped out.

My DTmoto '03-'05 headlights arrived & were installed yesterday. For $80, I wasn't expecting much and am pleasantly surprised/cautiously optimistic. Light throw is fine, sharp cutoff, lenses seem comparable to OEM, very little aiming needed out of the box.
It was about 90 degrees yesterday and the silicone or whatever caulk on the new housings was too tacky and pliable for my taste, even took some off when I removed the saran wrap cover protector because it was stuck to it.
I thought about hitting it with a bead of something more substantial but didn't, needed to get some headlights back in so I could, you know, drive. Will replace or supplement caulk later if/when they fog and I have more time and patience. I would've just made a mess yesterday.
The housing plastic itself was a little softer than I'd like too, not as stiff as OEM so they might bounce a bit. I definitely wouldn't go without reinstalling that lower fender both that others go without with these. Packaging was very good though, molded styrofoam and plastic over the lenses. They arrived fast & in perfect condition.
On the install, I had some problems with the old white plastic nutserts that most of these 10mm headlight screws/bolts go into. The lower "hidden" bolts in the fenders were no problem because that area is open with the ARB bumper, but the vertical bumper bars block access to the screws for the lower headlight trim piece. Didn't have a shallow enough socket and couldn't get a screwdriver to it without stripping so the trim pieces aren't installed in pics, will bolt them up with new nut or something later. The plastic nuts were probably worn out from ARB install, they just kept spinning with the screws.
Too long/didn't read: If you got bad '03-'05 headlights and don't want to retrofit/'06+ projector upgrade, I'd do this again for $80 v. $400+ for OEM replacements, even if I have to replace these ones in a year or two. Cheaper and better looking IMO, depending on your paint color and taste. Be careful removing and reinstalling the screws, the plastic outserts will spin on you, might want to hold with pliers if you can.

I was about to purchase the same lights for my 2005. Hell for $85 if i get 2 years out of them thats good enough for me!! I will reseal them, I do it with all my aftermarket headlights preventive maintenance. As far a they being "dimmer" vs oem light. I use Opt 7 led headlight they are 100times better that hids. So no worry there about brightness.

how come you didn't get the 03-05 piece under the headlight? it may be all black, but I still see the blank part in the photo because of OCD. lol

Was looking through my replies and thought I'd update with my DTMoto experience here 5 months down the road - no problems with moisture or anything else with these cheap eBay headlights so far. I haven't quite submerged them but they've been through hot and cold, rain and dry, plenty of bumps and no problems yet. I'm happy.

DT Moto Headlight updates
Just checking in to see if anyone has another update on their DT_MOTO aftermarket headlight assemblies. I'm probably gonna go for the black version and seal them with silicone before installing and perhaps even put some UV protectant or something as well.
I have a buddy that works at a toyota service center and he says that even the factory lights get a lot of reports of condensation.

I have an 08 sport and can say there is no differenc. Could you be referring to the 2006+ projector facelift the did to the 4th gen? 4th gen before 2006 have reflector housings not projectors. I put blacked out lights on my 08 and needed to upgrade to HID to improve the lightning.
man this is so sick. I would love to have you do a write up on how to do this.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I really like the idea of the smoked covers obscuring the lights inside, visually continuing the continuity of the surfaces. ...kinda 'stealth'-like.

I have smoked lights. I had to upgrade to HID lights to compensate.
Bought a set a couple weeks ago. Got them installed.
Leaking already. This was after a light rain. Sorry it's sideways. You can see water pooled at the bottom of the lens. The passenger side headlight is completely fogged now and I need to pull it back out.
Oh man that sucks. I was going to pick some up her in the next week as well.
