aftermarket speaker questions

yes i have searched here and even on tundra talk, and i know it can get hostile with the whole "did u even search bro" so yes i did search.

just wondering if anyone is using a component setup on there front stage and is also using an amp?

i just picked up a set of helix p236p components and i have installed them in the factory locations using the factory wiring. My next step will be hooking them up to my rockford T400x4AD and the crossovers for the speakers and tweeters.

My question is how or where should i tap into the speakers and tweeters to wire them to the crossovers and retain the factory wiring? as of now i have the tweeters wired up to the stock wires and still connected to the blue piece with the resistor on it. do i remove that when i wire up the crossover? i assume so. also where do the wires for the tweeters run, is it from the HU to the tweet only or do they run in the door then split into 2 wires to the stock 6x9

i have wired up many older vehicles before, and usually i would just rewire the entire system and bypass the stock wiring. in this case i want to keep the factory wires in place because its a newer vehicle and chopping wires on this new truck isnt really ideal lol.

Having just completed this little project in two different vehicles, I can tell you way I did it.

(this is based on the non-JBL system)
The way the speakers are wired is that the full signal comes from the the deck to the tweeter, then passed on to the door speaker. So there are 4 wires in the tweeter harness and 2 in the 6x9.

To keep the stock wiring you will have to build an adapter to use with the tweeter harness. The outer 2 wires are the feed signal and the inner two are the output to the woofer.

Trying to keep and use the stock wiring is a real pain.

In the 4Runner, I just ran new wires to the tweeter in the dash and the woofer in the door. I am running Boston Pro 6.5 on an Alpine PDR-V75 5 channel amp. The crossovers are under the dash.

In the Rav4 I did over the weekend, I used the stock wiring since the tweeter and woofer are both in the door, but ended up cutting the tweeter harness as I really didn't want to try building pins to insert into the harness and then having them work loose later on. It was just easier to cut and splice. That one has JBL components in the front running off a JBL amp.

okay so if you just run new wires, like tweeters directly to the crossover and woofer directly to the crossover, do i need to do anything to the existing (stock) wires?

technically i get signal from the deck and wire it to the amp, then from the amp to the crossover and i just rewire everything and skip the stock wires correct. i think im over thinking it

Nope, just leave the stock wiring alone. It will be there intact if you ever want to put the old system back in.

The only hard part is fishing new wiring through the door, but if you have fish tape, it shouldn't take very long.

Head unit -> RCAs to amp -> wires to crossovers -> then out to tweets and mids.
