Love the install, and the Pioneer AVH-X2700BS. Install was in family member's 2010, and was replacing the Kenwood DDX392 I installed 2 months ago (bluetooth quality was terrible on Kenwood). Very pleased with fit, and sound quality, even with stock speakers!

With the AVH-X2700, are you able to use the push to talk button on the steering wheel to initiate a phone call? What steering wheel control interface are you using? I'm ready to buy this same unit but I don't want to give up push to talk phone call.

Highly unlikely. I have the 5700 and can't use that feature. You need a unit that is voice capable so are probably looking at a 7 or 8000 series.

You can replace the piece of junk pioneer radio that came in the 4runner with a Astrium GEE-17155. You can replace it yourself. Go on ebay and search for the radio it comes out of Canada. It cost around 700.00 dollars. I replaced my radio with this one, looks factory, works great. Also search on this site for instructions on how to install.

Thanks for this. My touchscreen went out, and really want something as close to OEM looking as possible, without spending 2k from Toyota.

One thing to point out for others, is I think the model may be 1715, not 17155. Took me a bit to figure that out.

Thanks for this. My touchscreen went out, and really want something as close to OEM looking as possible, without spending 2k from Toyota.

One thing to point out for others, is I think the model may be 1715, not 17155. Took me a bit to figure that out.

If you feel like you want to go with stock - I've got a 5th gen touchscreen/nav/etc. (out of a 2012 trail) that is just sitting around.

So I just had a kenwood DDX9902S (Carplay) put into my 2010 4runner. It looks awesome and the metra kit matches the rest of the dash. With the steering wheel adapter and rear view camera adapter (will be installed next week), everything works with the head unit. The steering wheel volume/channel/mode buttons all work and using the bluetooth phone buttons activate siri and controls the phone answer/hangup buttons as well. Now I just need to replace my stock speakers and add a small subwoofer in there and it should be awesome. Anyone recommend any good speakers?

In the photo below, The GPS antenna is marked by the RED arrow. The Back-up camera uses a Shielded cable and is likely one of the two cables I have highlighted with BLUE arrows; the harness is compiled of four wires: RED, BLK, WHT, and Shield (color unknown). You'll need to pull the two connectors from their receiving portals to identify the wire colors beneath the shield to reveal it's usage.



The REV lights trigger wire is RED and lands at the number 2 terminal on the HU's rear panel: "See the blue circle and arrows upper left-hand corner on the diagram below". It's almost impossible to ID these wires using a photograph so you'll have to figure it out based on the diagram and the actual navi-unit, Best!

Info for using SFA12F cable on JBL/NAV 4runner with aftermarket head unit

I wanted to add this for others that want to use the factory Sat. antenna with an aftermarket head unit. I couldn't find this anywhere when i searched.


SFA12F is the cable used . see pic


Female end of SFA12F attaches to the 300v1 or whatever you choose to use.
End with plastic attaches to the cable (one you disconnect from the box under pass. seat) that runs to the antenna in the shark fin.

I couldn't find any info on doing this mod with a factory JBL/NAV head unit 2010-2013?
I'm not 100% if this will work on the newer years. but if your plug matches up you are good to go.

I didn't convert to 6v and the camera works great. But if you want to I found this on Amazon.

This is seriously an easy thing if you know the wiring.
I used posi-tap connectors.

Pin 21 blue camera ground
Pin 22 white video
Pin 23 Black video shield
Pin 24 Red camera power

First pic is the camera feed to RCA.
Second pic I attached the power and ground.

I am new to the forum as well as a new T4R owner (admit I was a Wrangler Unlimited man) and I am going to replace the stereo that came in my 15 SR5 with navigation. I am wondering if I will be able to sell the factory unit to someone who wants to add factory navigation to theirs?

Is yours JBL or non-JBL? How much do these factory units usually go for?

Did you connect the Red camera power wire to a constant 12V source or a switched source? Any negative effects from running it 12V for a few months now?

Information display features being lost

Can some answer if replacing entune with aftermarket one. Do you loss any functions on the dash center information display. I have a Nex4000 in my current vehicle and when I get my 4 runner I want to use it in the 4 runner. Just trying to understand everything I need.
