Yes please do that. it would be sweet! What happens when you do it while viewing GPS, and what happens when you do it while playing tunes?

Tunes are just dimming the interface, GPS function reduces brightness, and inverts colors (removes bright green, white etc)

yeah, i bought all the parts for the install and brought them to him. It worked without problems. Here is the exact one i bought.

Where are you guys mounting the GPS receiver and cable that plug into the rear of the receiver?

Don't remember seeing this covered (but I could have missed it)....with the installation of a Kenwood Nav system would the USB port in the glove box still have a way to be linked to the HU to play mp3's that are on the jump drive (like I have it set up now)?

Unless the Kenwood has something special it's probably like the Pioneers. I haven't seen a head-unit yet that incorporates the stock USB ports.

i've had the antenna mounted all over.. under the dash, on the rear of the car.. in 4r, I have it sitting on the dash.. but strictly because we were lazy to mount it anywhere else..

it works good. but, the installer was the one installing it. I know there were a bunch of wires that he had to splice. My volume up and down buttons and the next track buttons work great. I think when i use the voice command button it works. but, i dont think the answer or hang up buttons work. or they might have worked a few times. I need to test it some more.

nah, ours didn't work. I bought the extra pioneer ipod cable and just ran it into the same place as the stock USB in the glove box.

mine is on my dash right now too, but, when i switch out my dash kit for a satin black dash kit that i painted, i'm going to stuff that GPS receiver in the dash somewhere. The dash kit and the pioneer nav almost look factory, so i want to hide that gps receiver so it wont give the bad guys any indication that its not factory.

Just Want Improved Sterio

I recently purchased a 2011 SR5. The sterio sucks. Without having Party Mode activated it is almost mute. I do not really want to replace the headunit. Appears to be a pain in the ass. I was wondering if just installing an amplifier and new speakers would be sufficient. Any thoughts?

IMO, venture into better sound should start with a new head.. then, a speaker upgrade.

I'm in the same boat. I really want to add a full touch panel but I don't want to dump the USB or bluetooth.

Also, I don't know how you hook up Nav to the full panel HU when you didn't have it OEM.

the new pioneer headunit i have does bluetooth and usb input (also has an iPod interface as well) it's money.

yes, hooking up the nav would be a pain in the ass but a reputable stereo shop could juice you up for a few hundred. Also, the factory stereo is crap. I put in my Pioneer nav with the factory speakers and the speakers sound way better.

There are various adapters and such you will need to buy. I posted everything that i purchased along with links to amazon.com for your convenience.

Two things - thanks for posting both images....I know which I will go with now when (if) I make the jump and upgrade to a Nav system.

Second, what is with the 4R? Carbon Fiber? What are those digital numbers at the bottom of the console just above the 4WD selector on the LE? I am guessing it is something that is custom based on the rest of the 4R but just curious if anyone knows.

Is that a MOMO shift knob? How does it fit/feel installed? solid?

back on topic, I am going to make every effort to keep the stock stereo, non nav, and add either cleansweep or audio control in order to add my JL M6450 amp, sub I will have to sell my 10" RF Punch and go with an 8" once I find a JBL sub enclosure.

I really like the convenience of the stock system, it is the first bluetooth system I have experienced that works reliably. Even compared to my alpine system. I find it controls my iphone as well as my ipod nano pretty well. Haven't added the infinity kappas, they are sitting in a box, I am currently traveling for work so I have no access to my car. I guess my plan is to see how far I can go with the stock head unit, adding amp, sub and new speakers, dynamat, etc. and see if I am happy with it at that point, then if not.....

I have all the optional accessories for it, it may look a bit funny since it is blue lighting, and the dash is red.
