The E is an E load LT tire.
The other tire is just a P (passenger) rated.

I know and agree that the KOs are great off-road tires, but I would rate the KOs average on road. They have been around for many years and have a great reputation and are probably the most popular on/off-road tire to this day. The problem I had with them was in the rain and snow with a light rear wheel drive pick-up. They just don't compare to the REVOs in these conditions.
A snowflake symbol and 3 ply sidewalls don't make them better then the REVOs in these conditions. This is not just my personal opinion, 2500 other owners feel the same way. I've heard people say the LTXs were great tires also, in my experience they aren't as good as the KOs. Some tires do some things better then others: the KOs shine off-road, the LTXs shine on a dry highway and will last forever but the LT/P REVOs do almost everything better and more people that own them agree. The ratings for the KOs are from people who have owned them. I also agree with their ratings. There are also people that rate the KOs the same way Thai does, just as there are people that rate the REVOs poorly. But when you average out all the rating, you can get a pretty accurate idea of how well they would work for you intended purpose.
Look at the CR review and you will see that the opinion of the 2500 owners are very close to their rating. The bottom line is: If you

BFGs are an awesome off road tire but you give up a lot of on-road security and performance with them with their wet weather shortcomings and that's due to their design never really being updated in 15 years or so.
I see BFGs everyday and most are on vehicles that will NEVER go off road and IMO that people just buying them because of their popularity and never doing any real research about them. I guess soem people just love to blow money.

I started this tread looking for some advice on a couple of tires I was looking at to replace my stock Dunlops, and some of you guys just hyjacked the thread to blab on and on about your current tire!
All of this really just ended up reading like a bunch of guys who want to make themselves feel better about their personal purchasing decision.
Some of you were helpful (thank you!), but the rest of you need to take a break (especially the guy who says he loves his truck almost more than his "girlfriend".....she must be a real looker!).

Hubbard said:Well, I went with the Nitto TerraGrapplers and they look very sweet on the 4Runner! The're quiet and seem to handle pretty well; not much of a difference from the stock Dunlaps.
The biggest difference I've noticed is that the truck now sits up a bit higher, which I like!
Thanks for the help....I think I'll stick around a while and see what I can learn from you guys.
WTS said:Hi,
Well this thread came along just at the right time. I have an 03 4R LTD V8 with the stock ATs on it. I live on the edge of the Canadian Rockies and don't do any off roading to speak of so I'm looking for a tire thats good on ice and snow and of course rain. Living in Calgary can bring all kinds of weather within days of each other.
I'd also prefer a tire that is quite and smooth riding. After reading this thread it seems like most want tires for off roading and only care about off road performance.
Anyone have any experience with strickly mountain highway driving. In the middle of summer you can still get surprised by ice slicked highways up in the passes, thus the reason for good ice traction as well.
Maybe I'm asking for too much for one tire. I've also read how some tires were causing worse gas milage, is because of tire weight or just poor rolling resistance.
Thanks for any suggestions, and yes I've done a sh!t load of reading over at the tirerack but I'd like to hear from fellow 4R owners.
Thanks
