What's up my 3rd gen brothers? Hope all is well. I'm in need of your expertise.
My air flow (AC/Heat) went out today after my dad was driving my truck and hit a bump. It did this many years ago but would always come back on. Last year it just really quit on me, so I ended up changing the relay under the hood, all fuses and new blower motor and resistor. And also the AC switch behind the dash.
It worked momentarily after swapping in the new AC relay (the first thing I changed). Then the problem came back. Took it to a mechanic who checked everything (after all new parts were installed) and said he replaced a fuse and it was working again. However, by the time we got it home it had stopped again? A foreman in our company took a look, wiggled some wires and it was working again. Never had an issue for about a year until today.
After some inspection I noticed right next to the blower resistor is a relay, which is tight and snug in their behind the cross bar. It was too difficult to remove without taking out the cross bar but I was able to stick my head in there and get a part number on the relay.
The part # is 88650-35060. "Amplifier Assy, Cooler Stabalizer" and other sites have it listed as "AC Amplifier Circuit Board".
Has anyone had to change this in their 4runner? Could this be the culprit?
I mean, if this was bad, would it cause no air flow inside the cabin?
I've inspected all wiring again and don't see any burnt wires or discoloration.
Would a bad ground somewhere under my hood cause this?
This is for a 1997 SR5 with 193,000 miles.
