Another Full-Length Roof Rack Option -PrinSu

Lift was definitely a concern for the engineers at Front Runner for their full length rack.

Wasn't there a member a while back with a Gobi (memory fails me), that went through a car wash, and the rack folded up? Seem to recall they had to stop the car wash, then had to bend it back down enough for him to drive out.


Not sure I would trust the front end not being bolted down.

Now don't get me wrong - I am not saying it's the best solution out there BUT...

Gobi, Baja, Front Runner & K9 (correct me if I am wrong) use feet that bolt to the rack to secure the unit to the roof. This rack is slightly different in that the feet are the side rails - actually one long piece, there are no separate feet. It is also the same diameter/thickness/etc down the length of the vehicle, it does not "protrude" like the other "feet"... now I am definitely not any sort of engineer but by logic - albeit it could be faulty - it don't believe it to be that much of a concern if secured similarly to the Gobi front feet.

and yes [MENTION=28870]d_clark[/MENTION], that is crazy but there is a reason why they say no roof racks at the entrance of those things!!!

The full length Front Runner requires drilling the roof at the front support.

Gobi Ladder with Prinsu rack

I installed a Gobi Ladder last night and it fit just right with the Prinsu Rack on my 2014 5th gen. It has maybe .5 inches maybe 3/8 of space when fully up between the two. I'm not sure anyone else has done this so I figured I would try

I just ordered a set for my 4Runner. The Tacoma guys sure seem to be happy with them. I plan on running the plus nut and selling my stock rack with cross bars when it's installed.

Installed my 3/4 prinsu rack. The fairing doesn't clear my moon roof and won't tilt or open as its being held down. Might have to trim the fairing or somehow raise the fairing a bit.

Have you emailed Zach to see if anyone else has run into it yet? He is pretty good about responding to emails. You might be the first to order a 3/4 with a moon roof.

I didn't ask for the light bar cutout and emailed him a week later. He said he would change it for me the next day.

Yup. The fairing has 10 holes for bolting onto the crossbar, 5 on top and 5 on the bottom. Instead of bolting all 10 bolts into the two slots on the crossbar. I bolted the bottom 5 holes only to the top slot of the crossbar. This gives the moonroof clearance to open. Before I had all 10 holes bolted onto the two slots on the crossbar, this made the fairing too low pressing down on the rubber seal on the moonroof. But now the top 5 holes on the fairing is left open so Prinsu will send me some black plugs to cover them up. I will take some close up shots later. I do think I may be the first to have ordered the 3/4 rack for the 5th gen with the moonroof. The first fitted one was for a member on here who had the TRD Pro which lacked the moonroof so this method wouldn't apply to him.

The two front mounting brackets were way too low for my roof line. When I tighten them down the mounts would contact the rib of the roof line possibly damaging it if I tighten too snugly. I used SS washers to give the roof rib a bit more clearance. I think this varies from rack to rack as they are cut and bent. The demo 5th gen on his installation guide needed washers as well.

I just got my full length sides from Zach at PrinSu and will be installing it over the next few days. I plan to try to come up with a foot option for the front that is similar to the Gobi with no drilling required. I will post back what I come up with.

Any developments on the non drill modification, or did i miss something?
