Another Full-Length Roof Rack Option -PrinSu

Seattle I used this trick last night and it is working well...now fully functional moon roof again...thanks.

I have noticed that the fairing is driving air into/through the moon roof weather stripping...has anyone had this issue? Have you guys run this rack w/o the fairing? I'm thinking that will send the air beyond the moon roof..but unsure impact on drag.

Update to this issue....took the deflector off, reduced noise and also eliminated the wind being driven through the moonroof.... mpg increased by 1/10 (hard to say if that was the only factor in that increase, but it didn't decrease)

Think I'll throw another cross bar up front where the deflector was an extend this sucka

Just installed my full length rack over the weekend.

The install was just fine. Not the best guided directions so that any noob that's never used a tool can do it, but if you've got some common sense and tool-ability to your brain, you'll be fine. Agree, the step bit is the way to go, just be careful and err on the side of too small, not over drilled. Because the if the push nuts don't fit super tight (hammer tap-in) then you risk having them move when you're trying to wrench down and clamp on the inside.

I have a Yakima Skybox 16 that I used to use with factory rails and Yakima xbars. With all that height and space, popping that Skybox on and off my 2013 Limited was a breeze! However, I couldn't get it far enough forward so the lift gate would always hit the Skybox. Rather annoying in a few different ways.

Post install, Skybox installed, no rubbing at lift gate... I realized that the very low profile of the Prinsu, which I really love from a design and aesthetic standpoint, does NOT bode well for easily installing and removing the Skybox. Nor do you have the option of placing it anywhere you want, it has to go to the side. Which for me is fine, but I would like the ability to move it to the middle, and that ain't happenin'.

2nd issue was installing my Road Shower 4. Again, the low profile is NOT friendly for mounting/screwing/wrenching devices onto the rack. It's super tight up under there. Getting a wrench of any kind up under there to evenly/properly tighten down was slow and tedious. Maybe I should remove the xbars, install the (insert whatever here) and then load back up. But that is not always the easiest or best thing to do when you have a big Skybox on the other side.

Again, loving the rack, there is so much space up there. Install was super easy, it's mega configurable, it's super light compared to way more expensive steel models. I'm just a little challenged on finding the right solution for easy-on - easy-off for attachments like the Yakima or RS.

Again, it's not a ding, just a point of reference. Also.. They totally under committed and way over delivered on my recent purchase. Was her in less than 2 weeks after delivery, peak season. Well done folks! Nice Decks too!

What about drilling 5/8" holes in the cross bars so you can drop in carriage bolts, slide them to the desired spot, then bolt whatever accessories to those? (I believe its 5/8", i was going to do this but the biggest bit i have is a 1/2 and it didn't look to be big enough ((TWSS)).)

For those who have them, is it necessary to seal the mounting bolts from the top and between the washers, or just at the base of the spacers?

I only sealed the base of the spacer and squeezed a good amount of flowable silicone into the mounting holes of the roof. Almost 2 years later I never had a leak. My vehicle is parked outside 365 days a year in the rainy PNW weather.

In addition, has anyone tried mounting an RTT onto the 3/4 rack? I'm looking at an CVT Mt. Bachelor Standard Stargazer Pioneer or a Tepui Ayer Sky. These look the smallest available RTT's.

I haven't seen anyone try an RTT on the 3/4 or do I have to be the guinea pig and make it work? Lol.

I recall my rack came with 8 spacers total. I added additional washers to the 4 front spacers to raise the front a little. If I was using only the supplied spacers the feet of the prinsu came pretty close to touching the roof. I added the washers as a precaution.

Installed my 3/4. I have a sunroof so I offset the wind fairing as to not block access as others have done. I am noticing a large amount of wind noise. I may have to modify the fairing, Has anyone had this issue and were able to fix it?

Update to my wind whistling through the moonroof (MR) at HWY speeds for you 3/4 owners.

After talking to Prinsu and exchanging some photos, I got to thinking it must be my T4R, so I took it in for a oil change and MR inspect/repair...turns out the seal and roof wasn't seating in the proper location, after a few hours and a reasonable fee they re-located it and it seals up just fine. No air, no water...good to go.

Did get allot of head turning from the service guys about the Prinsu.

If you're gonna get an RTT look at the 7/8th rack. No drilling required and gives you about 6 more inches. A little more room to fit a bigger RTT or at least have some extra space to work with.

If you’re worried about having enough room like the post above said look at the 7/8 rack. I have one but I don’t use it for a rtt but wanted the extra room. You get 2 more cross bars which should actually equal out to about 2 more feet over the 3/4 rack which you might find useful.

Yes it will, even the 3/4 rack needs adjusting to get full function from your sunroof.

Can you attach a ladder to the prinsu rack? Gobi sells one but i would pull the trigger on the prinsu rack if I can put a ladder on the back.

Can you attach a ladder to the prinsu rack? Gobi sells one but i would pull the trigger on the prinsu rack if I can put a ladder on the back.

Got my full length Prinsu installed this weekend and am super happy with it compared with the Gobi I had previously

I know that there were some initial struggles with lead times, but I got my rack in ~3 weeks (which is just insane compared to 18+ weeks I waited for the Gobi).

I love the modular design. I needed to cut down the length of some MaxTrax pins after attaching the rack to roof. It made is so much easier to be able to remove the specific cross members/load panel instead of removing the entire rack or jamming my hand underneath.

So far the wind noise seems way better as well.
