Another ToyTec Ultimate on a TE W/KDSS

WOW..great job!!

I have the #60809 airbags sitting here, but I'm not planning a lift anytime soon.

Do you see any issue using that model, or do you think I should exchange it?

Any tips for installing the bag?...they have you dropping the spring out to install it.

Thanks in advance for any tips,

Pat

Here are a few pics of the ToyTec Ultimate 3" package that I installed on my TE this past Saturday. The process took about 6 hours and having more than one floor jack is almost required. I also installed an AirLift kit to keep things level when towing. The airlift kit # 60733 provides 2" extra height over the #60809 specified for stock springs.

New Coilovers needed height reduction to retain original vehicle fore-aft pitch.

I've very pleased with the ride and handling so far, somewhat harsher on the highway but less that expected. The road manners are head and shoulders above the FJ. I hope to get out in the Texas hill country next week and give it all a thorough workout.

After installing my Toytec kit my front measurement under the grill is close to 14 inches where you have just over 12. Looks like I need to adjust mine down. The rear is 39 inches to top of wheel arch.

How was the install for those that did it themselves? Any pointers?

Had a real tough time getting the KDSS hydraulic arms back in. Have since read that you can release pressure by a few turns on nuts in the KDSS junction box.....that would have saved a load of time.

Also, as you can see above my front coilovers came way over extended. This made it really hard to get them to fit. Looks like the exposed thread should measure about 1.25 inches. Mine were over 2 inches.

Should of added.....and this may be obvious to everyone but me.....but the diff drop kit is not mentioned in the main instructions.

Thought I'd finished then realized I still had a box left!! Real easy to install though.

If you have KDSS disconnect of the front swaybar is not required. Spend the extra 2 minutes, borrow a tie rod tool if you don't have one and disconnect the tie rod ends--so much easier. There are two spacer that go between the skid plate and mount points, glue these to the vehicle with RTV or gasket maker so they don't get lost at oil change time.

Tools that make things easier:
Impact Wrench (muscle and speed)
Ratcheting box end wrenches (Top front shock nuts)
Ratcheting nylon tie-down strap (rear panhard and lower control arm re-attachment)
4 foot 1.5x1.5 steel bar (lower control arm pry down and spanner wrench)

Here is a doc of notes and more pics.

Thanks a lot! I dont have a Trail, just an SR5, so I wont need to worry about the KDSS.
