Cool. Good to know. I would have thought it would have taken sand blasting to get that powdercoat off. I'll just leave mine as is now and decide further down the road once they really need it.

Son of a gun, I've wanted to do something like this rear shelf mod for awhile and have just been too busy to look around and the darn blueprint was right under my nose! The worst part is that I just demolished a headboard a month ago that would have worked for this, it was good stress relieve with the sledgehammer at least.
Off to goodwill I suppose...
(I was actually looking for your cobra cb install, wiring tips, will pm if I don't find what I need)

Yeah that Kleen-Strip will rip paint off very good. I used it for stripping the hood and fenders of my RX7 back in the day when I was repairing some damage.

I vaguely remember buying a gel version of that that was easier to "paint" on vs. the more paint thinner one or the aerosol can.

Thanks for the details on refinishing your sliders, Antman! I think your experience with the powder coating on these is helping me to decide to simply paint my new sliders when they show up instead of going the PC route.
I had a set of Slee sliders on my 80-series that the PC actually hastened their demise due to rust. When I took them off the truck, the brace that passed under the cats essentially disintegrated.
Think I might save the cash spent on PC and just paint the new ones.

I have read and reread this thread many times.
It may be 2-3 days of reading.
But it will take 2-3 months, if not longer, if you want to go thru and actually DO some of these mods!
