You could definitely do that if everything is in decent shape.
I had 2 problems here. The powdercoat was bubbled up in spots (rust underneath) and the entire slider was spray-painted flat black over the powdercoat from a previous touchup.
Cool. Good to know. I would have thought it would have taken sand blasting to get that powdercoat off. I'll just leave mine as is now and decide further down the road once they really need it.
