That's the same video I checked out last night! I wonder if the sound deadening I have is going to affect the heat gun method?

I cleaned up the trim pieces under the newly-cut front bumper. Like I stated before- I used bedliner spray paint and came up with a simple solution to mount them.
They are screwed to the braces under the aluminum bumper - that was a no-brainer.
The outside now has longer screws in the lowest fender-liner holes. Then I heated and bent the trim pieces around the bolt. Now the bumper has the needed support and the trim pieces stay in place - but can still be removed easily. If they take a whack offroad they will flex and not be damaged. Mission accomplished for the front bumper.
In person this looks really clean, you can't see the trim unless you poke your head under there. I'm happy with it!

Always on DRL's (Daytime Running Lights)
Some of you expressed that you would like your DRL to be on whenever you want. In stock form they automatically turn off whenever the headlights are on. This MOD is very easy! Took me 5 minutes (after the troubleshooting session....: )
The DRL will be on anytime the truck is running, regardless of which lights are on or off. The stalk will not turn the DRL's off anymore (I may work on that one later - EDIT- DONE, but it's a royal PITA http://www.toyota-4runner.org/963785-post319.html )
If you want to be able to turn the DRL's off, I'll explain that in a minute.
Oh yeah, your turn signals will still work as normal.
Let's get to it...arty:
This is the wire you need to tap into and ground. Plug #F11-White, Pin #5. The wire color is light green.

Use a pink 3M wire tap, or similar and tap into the wire to connect a wire lead for the ground.

As I stated before, the DRL's will be on whenever the truck is running.
If you want to still be able to turn them off, simply run the tapped wire lead to a switch, and the other terminal on the switch will need to be grounded. I will do that next unless I can figure out how to turn them off with the stalk again...

DRL/Foglight MOD Improvement
Well guys, it's been awhile, but here's another (small) one. I like this one, since it makes two mods work together seamlessly.
This MOD is for those of you running both the DRL, and the Independent Foglight MODs, or is that just me doing that? Hmmmmm ....Links:

I am running Hyper white bulbs in the DRL's, and PIAA yellow fogs. I like the fact that the DRL's look like driving lights while they are on (albeit not extremely bright). The PIAA's are awesome as well, especially in the wet...
Problem is, when I switched the yellow PIAA's on, they look kinda dumb with the DRL bulbs on. Like this:

Basically, you will replace the standard relay you used for the Foglight MOD, with a 5 prong relay, and change the ground setup.
This relay will have a terminal marked "87a". What on earth will this do? I'll tell ya. This extra terminal is like the evil twin of terminal #87, which is grounded from the Fogmod. When 87 is grounded, 87a is open (not grounded), and visa versa.
SO.... replace the relay for the Fogmod. Plug everything in exactly the same, leaving 87a open, for now...
Now, when you did the DRL MOD, you tapped into the light green wire and grounded it.

To make this MOD work, cut the light green wire. Once cut, you will have two ends (duh!) Connect a short length of wire to the end attached to the white plug. Insulate the other end of the light green wire. You can use butt connectors to make these connections.
Still with me?
One more step.
Crimp a female spade connector to your new ground wire, and plug into relay terminal 87a.
Now, have a beer and enjoy your work... :guitar3:

Here's what the MOD does.
Everything works like it did before. Fogs are totally independent. Turn signals work perfectly. The DRL's are on whenever the truck is running : **BUT** When you turn the fogs on, the DRL's turn off ; when the DRL's are on, the fogs are off. And, it all happens automatically.
Yellow or white, can't have both!

Nothing earth-shattering today, but I baked my headlights apart and did the BHLM. I used the Rustoleum Bedliner because I like the texture and it's tough as hell!
I also pulled my tired 3M vinyl "eyebrows" off and bedlinered (is that a word? lol) the top of the headlight. No more hazing- ever!

It was a cheap, fun little project!

I made this today with hopes of preserving my new rear bumper while offroading. It seems that I have a habit of ripping it off, lol.
Nothing new here- plenty of companies make hitch sliders, but what's the fun in buying one? I had an old hitch in my junk drawer and some 1/4"plate steel (I pulled out of a dumpster years ago, lol) and my cheap Harbor Freight MIG welder, so...
The welds aren't that pretty but I think I got some pretty good penetration- I did jack the entire back of the truck up from the bottom of the skid and it held.
Ghetto points for this project too! I don't have anything stout enough to bend 1/4" steel. After some brainstorming, I barely scored the inside bend-line with a dremel and heated it up with a MAP torch. When it was ready I placed the plate between the concrete expansion joints in my driveway and sledge hammered the hell out of it. Hey, it actually worked! My neighbor was like, :wow:
