ANY HELP!? 3vze to 22re

I have a 1989 4runner that I have taken the 22re out of and put it in my 1990 runner (had 3.slo) all is completed but on the wiring harness I am having troubles. I have included pictures to describe what exactly I am talking about, if anyone has completed this before please let me know or if you know of any videos or diagrams please please please help me out. I need this thing back on the road yesterday! haha

You need a wiring harness and computer for a 22re. The 3vze one will not work.

I changed them out. I noticed I didn't say that in my post. That's the only problem I am having (for now...)


FYI! I HAVE A COMPLETE DONOR 1989 for this project!

Well it sounds like your trading plugs out. Trying to remove the 90 and install an 89.

If this is the case, you can do this 2 ways.

1 Like Hyde said harness swap... COMPLETE harness swap. Wiring will still have to be done for gauges and what not.

2 Get a wiring schematic for an 89 and a 90, splice the 89 into the 90 harness. You are in your own territory here. I dont know of anyone who has documented this. It will take some time.

I personally spliced a chevy tuneport harness into a 91 toyota. It can be done. Just time consuming.

The sticky at the top of the forum has a link to download the Factory Service Manual (most commonly referred to as the FSM)

I'm preeety sure they have wiring in them.

As Hyde says, look at the FSM...the schematics are there, I'm already getting geared up for a V-8 swap which will entail the same type of wiring needs...another place I use alot in my travels is "Painless Wiring"...they have a BUNCH of conversion type stuff, and complete swap harnesses, might be worth a phone call. Either way, prepare for some time to be spent with this.

Discovered a new thing haha... the power steering is different... there is a mechanism on the passenger side on the frame rail that delivers the power steering fluid to the dif. but on the 22re the power steering has a separate reservoir that I removed and placed on the 3vze runner. I wonder if I can bypass those lines or do I need to splice them in with a "T"?
