Any way to make Homelink ONLY work when key is on?

If you lock your door it is not active. Try locking someone in and have them try to use the button after the doors are locked, it shouldn't work per the way the security feature is designed.

It should also go inactive after a short amount of time, even if you leave your door unlocked, but closed with no activity in the truck.

That’s what you would think. What is considered short about of time when doors are locked ? 1min, 15min or 1hr?

In all cases, my homelink still has power and opens the garage

But my bmw and Lexus homelink deactivates the garage door upon looking the doors.

Toyota Sucks

Wow. I cat believe you aren’t able to disable via reprogramming the always on Homelink connection. That is a huge security breach. After a built up Tacoma and two 4 Runners I think it’s time to try out a Jeep. It’s unfortunate that Toyota has slipped to the bottom of the pack.

FWIW, my Honda Accord homelink works even when the car is off.

I started this exact thread somewhere else and the suggestion was to disconnect my battery every night. Brilliant.

Point is, there are a bunch of ways to get around this; but we shouldn't have to. All of my other cars are wired correctly from the factory (one even gives me the choice of when I would like it to work), so there is no reason for this. Especially since it seems like this has been going on for a decade?
