Anybody Upgraded the Fog Lights?

Jack asses like you are worse than the people running around with fog lights energized. You are purposely trying to hinder someones field of vision by flashing your high beams at them and then bragging about it on an internet forum. Real mature buddy....

Reading is fundamental. I specifically stated "enhanced" for a reason.

Halogen fogs are useless at highway speeds. They only light up the areas directly in front and, more importantly, the areas to the sides of the vehicle to help the driver see the edges of the road. If your halogen fog lights lit up "something" at speed, you wouldn't have enough time to see/react/avoid.

When your fogs have been modified to produce and equal amount or, in most cases, more light than your low beams, you're doing it wrong.

At that point wouldnt you become the d-bag with blinding lights? Personally I just let it go when I encounter someone bright lights or incorrectly aimed lights. It's like how I always get flashed when I am towing because the vehicle sits nose high, how is flashing your high beams at me going to alleviate the situation? I'm not going to pull over and un hook my trailer and the guy with his driving lights probably isnt going to turn his lights off.

If I see someone with particularly bright lights I simply give them a quick flash of my high beams. If they don't do anything then I simply alter my focus more towards the edge of the road until they go by. Several years ago I kicked a guy's a$$ for following me very close with his high beams on. My wife made me promise to never do that again so I don't.

Why are you spending soooo much time defending the dBags that are in the wrong by modding their lights or failing to re-aim them after installing a lift? Using flash-to-pass when someone has bright lights does not put that person in the wrong. It was what we were taught in driver's ed in school.

Ooooh, yeah, pet peeve. Along with tailgating. The only a$$ kicking I could do is if it's a girl, so I resort to tapping brake (break) lights. This usually doesn't work so I just keep slowing down until they are forced to pass me, which also results in a one-finger salute and the stink-eye.

YES the people are telling me "hey douche bag, quit towing that trailer because your vehicle wasnt designed to do such a thing. You should re aim your head lights every single time you load your cargo area or attach a trailer or buy expensive aftermarket air bags to level the vehicle out."

Please enlighten me on how I should tow, please enlighten the good people at GM, Ford, Chrysler even Toyota and tell them that they need auto-leveling head lights like many German sedans have because obviously they need them since the vehicle isnt equipped to do its intended job without modification.

Obviously, even when doing it for a living, you never learned how to tow since you are driving an vehicle in an unsafe manor. Leveling hitches have been around and in use for years so don't blame the manufacture for you failing to address a problem you created and know about and choose to ignore. My dad had a leveling hitch installed on our family car in the late 60s after the first time we towed a trailer and people flashed their lights at us.

Towing and towing properly are two very different things, I'm sure a completely stock 4runner without any modification can tow well over the rated capacity even, but is it safe? Probably not.

If your low beam cutoff is pointing high enough to get into the eyes of oncoming drivers then the load being towed is probably not loaded up optimally according to manufacturer recommendations.

If I recall correctly, somewhere in there they tell you time and time again to double check that the weight is properly distributed and that the vehicle is properly level before towing.

So yes, in my opinion Toyota is saying that your vehicle may or may not require modification before towing, depending on what you plan to tow. As a matter of fact they even state in that section somewhere that the 4runner is primarily a passenger vehicle and not purpose built for towing, hence all the extra precautions to tow safely.
